I didn't open the link which is why I asked the question...what does this have to do with Sweden ?

    :D

By the way, the United States doing great with their vaccinated people.

The current problem in the U.S. is that the hospitalizations / deaths are now primarily those not vaccinated and the hosptializations are becoming worst for Covid infected children because they're not vaccinated. :(

Unfortunately, some hospitals have again reached their capacity level for care.

The best policies to fight pandemics: Five lessons from the literature so far
    https://voxeu.org/article/best-policies-fight-pandemics-five-lessons-literature-so-far

While repeated waves of Covid-19 infections are prolonging the global pandemic, the literature is drawing tentative lessons from the various measures implemented. This column highlights five. (1) A stringent and early lockdown seems more efficient. (2) Although a comparison across measures is econometrically challenging, the cancelling of public events stands out as one of the most efficient. (3) While the merits of geographical targeting seem mixed, numerous models advocate for targeting by age and type of job. (4) Even without a lockdown, pandemics affect economic activity through voluntary social distancing. (5) Relaxing a lockdown should be done gradually even during vaccine roll-out, as avoiding a resurgence relies on rigorous sanitary measures.

We can thank Sweden for the next more transmissible strain... well for at least discovering it.

New strain of the Covid-19 Delta variant found in Sweden
    https://www.sify.com/news/new-strai...-sweden-news-international-vith4ijiffgia.html

A new strain of the Covid-19 Delta variant has been found in Sweden, with some cases being among fully vaccinated individuals, local media reported.

Eight infections caused by the Delta variant with the E484Q mutation have been found in Uppsala, some 70 km north of capital Stockholm, Xinhua news agency quoted Swedish Television as saying in a report.

Although little is known about the new strain, studies indicate that it may be more transmissible.

All the new cases are reported to be linked to travel abroad.

"We take all variants against which vaccines may not have the same protection seriously," Mats Martinell, medical manager at the sampling unit of Uppsala Region, told Swedish Television.

Since Uppsala is a university city and the new term has just started, Martinell urged the public to be vigilant.

"We are in a stage where there can be large outbreaks connected to super-spreading events such as parties, and one has to be careful," he told Swedish Television.

More than 1.11 million Covid-19 cases have been recorded in Sweden, according to the latest official statistics.

Till date, 80.5 per cent of the adult population have received at least one vaccine dose, while 61.1 per cent have had both doses.

"Sweden meet Delta, Delta meet Sweden". Winter is coming.

COVID-19 on the rise in Swedish cities as Delta outbreaks dominate
    https://www.reuters.com/world/europ...h-cities-delta-outbreaks-dominate-2021-07-23/

Cases of COVID-19 have increased in Sweden's main cities with the more contagious Delta having emerged as the dominant variant in the country, health authorities said on Friday, though it added infection levels nationally remained low.

Sweden reported 1,855 new cases of COVID-19 last week, a 24% increase compared to the previous week. Around a quarter of new cases were linked to travel abroad, the heath authority said.

"The number of cases nationally of Covid-19 continues to be at a low level, but an increase is seen in all metropolitan regions," the authority said in a statement, adding that 75% of Sweden's adult population had now received at least one dose of vaccine.

After suffering a third wave during the spring, infection rates, hospitalisations and deaths in the disease fell rapidly during the early summer with the vaccine roll-out and warmer weather seen having helped bring down the spread.

Sweden pressed ahead last week with easing pandemic restrictions, though, faced by the spread of new variants of the virus, the government also urged citizens to keep to social distancing recommendations.read more

The Nordic country has relied mainly on voluntary measures to stem the spread of infections, though curbs on opening hours for restaurants and limits on crowds at venues such as shopping malls have also been periodically enforced.

LOL. Dude you have been so fucking wrong on everything Sweden.
    EVERYTHING.
But tell us how the king, an unelected not-scientist, tells us how the Swedish model failed.
    It didn’t.
It was the shining success of the world.

    Get over it Laces...

Sweden Public Health Agency and Anders Tegnell have admitted that the Natural Herd Immunity policy has failed.
    • In addition, they've all been fully vaccinated (AstraZeneca) along with promoting vaccination to their citizens as a solution out of the Pandemic.
You need to come to grips with those facts.

A year and a half after Sweden decided not to lock down, its COVID-19 death rate is up to 10 times higher than its neighbors
    https://www.businessinsider.com/sweden-covid-no-lockdown-strategy-failed-higher-death-rate-2021-8
    • Sweden decided not to implement a full-scale lockdown during the pandemic.
    • It now has up to 10 times as many COVID-19 deaths per capita as its Nordic neighbors.
    • Sweden also didn't fare much better economically, suggesting its gamble didn't pay off.
