Sweden solely credits COVID vaccinations in reducing it's current wave.

Sweden's third COVID wave ebbing fast as vaccines bite
    https://www.reuters.com/business/he...id-wave-ebbing-fast-vaccines-bite-2021-05-18/

Sweden, which has shunned lockdowns throughout the pandemic, has seen the number of cases and intensive care patients drop fast in the recent weeks with more than 40% of the adult population now having received at least one dose of vaccine.

The Nordic country registered 10,017 new coronavirus cases since Friday, health agency statistics showed on Tuesday, a decline compared to the 13,812 cases reported during the corresponding period last week.

Sweden has experienced a powerful third wave of the virus with the number of people testing positive per capita among the highest in Europe for months, in stark contrast to its Nordic neighbours where infections have remained relatively subdued throughout the pandemic.

However, with over 40% percent of the adult population having received at least one shot of vaccine and around 12% fully vaccinated, the number of people in intensive care has still fallen more than 30% from a peak three weeks ago.

The vaccine roll-out is also credited for deaths being relatively low this year compared to previous waves of the disease with data suggesting no excess mortality so far in 2021.

The country of 10 million inhabitants registered 26 new deaths, taking the total to 14,301. The deaths registered have occurred over several days and sometimes weeks.

Luckily we don't need opinion and we can see how Sweden compares with the other countries with respect to the chart I have been consistently posting for months.

By the way... I am glad Sweden relied on science and data... not your bullshit.
Once they locked down old folks homes... they have been the model country with respect to liberty and they have done a great job with vaccines... as far as we can tell.

Excellent... the model we should have all followed after they protected the old folks.

Yeah, medical experts and health officials in Sweden has credit the vaccination in reducing the Covid numbers while others say its because of a combination with the increasing vaccinations / strict restrictions.

It doesn't really matter which one is the most important reason for the declining Covid numbers...
    • Either reason punches a big hole in the Natural Herd Immunity misinformation / disinformation nor the stupid belief that Sweden should have locked down the elderly only when their health officials admitted their health system was not designed to do such.
Instead, they realize they needed to put more restrictions on everybody especially when the variants arrived and more younger people were becoming infected.

Natural Herd Immunity was DOA. Unfortunately, they didn't realize it nor able to admit such until the late fall of 2020.

My issue with Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland has not changed since Day 1 of the pandemic...protecting the elderly, ethnic communities and migrant workers.

There's still some problems as noted via a recent article @ https://www.ft.com/content/9e02b256-af82-4703-96bb-4280fe4d7808

From your article... and this is with a very large amount of their deaths front loaded in the nursing homes before they locked them down.

"Sweden's death rate per capita is many times higher than that of its Nordic neighbours' but lower than in most European countries that opted for lockdowns."

Sweden' deaths per capita during the entire time period over the past year is much higher than its direct neighbors.

The good thing...Sweden has acknowledge such and not trying to sweep under the rug as outsiders have consistently been trying to do when they see the performance of Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland and Netherlands...countries that Sweden compares itself too and consulted with...countries that have easily outperformed Sweden during the Pandemic so far in infections, hospitalizations, ICUs and deaths.

    Strict restrictions on everybody...it works.
