Keep in mind that the United States has begun warning against travel to 80% of the world because of Covid. https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/coron...er-cent-of-world-due-to-coronavirus-1.5394313 Most likely because they don't want any of its citizens to bring back anymore variants of Covid. Yet, what I didn't know was that such was attempted to be done before during the Trump administration but they revoke it...essentially not allowing the warning to be given to U.S. citizens wanting to travel abroad. Analogy - Let them cross the river but don't tell them there are crocodiles in the river. wrbtrader

For me it is 7 day rolling average of new confirmed deaths - per population. I have the per population... box checked... maybe the person viewing has to check that box. Once or twice in the past I posted without having that box checked... (by mistake and I wondered what happened) Sweden is third lowest (best) in this list I made months ago. And yes we all know that its neighbors have done better. https://ourworldindata.org/explorer...L~CAN~FRA~GRC~GBR~USA&Metric=Confirmed+deaths
Sweden will never achieve herd immunity if they can't get their population vaccinated. Now Swedes are trying to go to other countries to get vaccinated. Sweden postpones Covid-19 vaccination target (again) https://www.thelocal.com/20210430/sweden-postpones-covid-19-vaccination-target-again/ Sweden has again postponed its Covid-19 vaccination target, this time due to a decision to halt the Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine over concerns of very rare side effects. Sweden initially said it aimed to offer vaccinations to all adults in the first six months of 2021. But a month ago it postponed the deadline due to an EU-wide vaccine supply shortage, saying instead that adults would be offered at least one dose by August 15th. The Public Health Agency has now delayed the target by another three weeks, estimating that adults will have been offered a dose by September 5th, although its director-general Johan Carlson estimated 90-95 percent will have received the offer by the end of August. “Vaccinations are in full swing out in the regions, but due to the fact that the use of the Janssen vaccine has been suspended, the vaccine forecast needs to be adjusted,” said Swedish Health Minister Lena Hallengren in a press statement on Friday. “At the same time, it is encouraging to see that more than 80 percent of everyone over the age of 65 has now received a first does of vaccine, three weeks ahead of schedule.” Thirty percent of Sweden’s adult population has received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, and most of the country’s 21 regions have started Phase 3 of vaccinations – in other words everyone over the age of 60. The final phase, Phase 4 which extends vaccinations to the general public of under-60s, is under way in some regions. Sweden paused the rollout of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine in April following reports of very rare side effects in the form of a combination of blood clots and low platelets. The Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are also being used in Sweden, and the Astra Zeneca vaccine which has reported similar side effects is only being administered to over-65s. A new report published by the Public Health Agency yesterday showed that Sweden’s elderly foreign-born residents are much less likely than native Swedes to have been vaccinated. Only 44 percent of those over the age of 80 who were born in sub-Saharan Africa have been vaccinated, 59 percent of those born in North Africa, 77 percent of those born in the EU, 81 percent of those born in North America, and 85 percent of those born in the Nordics – compared to 91 percent of those born in Sweden. “We don’t know exactly what’s behind this, but it’s important that the alarm is sounded,” state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell told the health authorities’ biweekly press conference on Thursday, calling on the country’s regional health agencies to look back over the first vaccination phases to find out what can be done to reach those who have been missed. The vaccination gap is worrying as elderly people born in Africa and the Middle East are also overrepresented among those who end up being hospitalised with Covid-19. Tegnell said that having “uneven vaccine cover” also risked leading to outbreaks in the future if the problem was not tackled rapidly. There is also a difference when it comes to people living in care homes, but it is not as stark. Among over-65s living in care homes, 95 percent of people born in Sweden have received one dose, compared to 88 percent of people from sub-Saharan Africa 86 percent of people from the Middle East and 71 percent of people from North Africa (although the latter figure is based on fewer than 50 people).
The US... improved past Sweden for a day or two... popped Sweden's deaths per million dropped again... Looking good in Sweden right now. https://ourworldindata.org/explorer...L~CAN~FRA~GRC~GBR~USA&Metric=Confirmed+deaths
By the way we told you that this part of the Swedish population was getting hit hard... and that may be due multi generational... tight living quarters and dark /skin/ fully clothed Vitamin D deficits. I think it is alarming that those over 70 are not getting the vaccination.... from your article... But... but... but... the COVID-deniers claimed it wouldn't hurt children. According to them kids are effectively immune since not enough of them die. "Where are the deaths?" they demand. Covid-19 cases rise among children and teenagers in Sweden https://www.thelocal.se/20210504/covid-cases-rise-children-teenagers-sweden/ Sweden continues to have the EU's most serious spread of Covid-19, with the Public Health Agency reporting an increase in cases among children. “What stands out is that cases among children and young people are increasing, among those between 0-19 years,” said the Public Health Agency’s Sara Byfors, adding that this could be partly due to the fact that guidelines around contact tracing have recently changed so more children are being tested for the virus. In the oldest age group, there was a much clearer drop in new reported cases, which the agency believes is largely due to the impact of the vaccination rollout. Looking at the country as a whole, there was a small week-on-week reduction in newly reported cases, although the rate was still extremely high. “We have a high spread of infection in Sweden, including in relation to the rest of Europe,” said Byfors. The 14-day incidence rate (new cases reported per 100,000 residents) is now at 691 nationwide, but varied between regions, reaching 1,124 in Västernorrland although even this figure was a slight reduction from the week before. In Kronoberg the figure was 1,003 and in Östergötland 918, with both regions showing a continued upward trend. In the three largest regions, the 14-day incidence rates were 701 in Stockholm, 623 in Västra Götaland, and 583 in Skåne. And within intensive care, the number of patients treated for Covid-19 had risen by 14 since the previous report, to 405. A further 1,522 people are currently receiving hospital care for the disease in wards other than intensive care. “Caring for a person who is seriously ill with Covid-19 requires a huge amount of resources and a lot of staff, and it is very important that all of us help out by following the restrictions to help out the healthcare staff,” said the National Board of Health and Welfare’s Mattias Fredricson. At the press conference, the authorities reiterated the importance of following national recommendations, in particular working from home whenever possible, only having close contact with your closest circle, and avoiding social events, for example refusing invitations to parties or dinners. “The spread of infection is still high. We need to continue keeping distance, both indoors and outdoors, and not socialise with very many people. Work from home if it’s possible and avoid social events – dare to say no,” said Sara Byfors. “If you live in a region where there are further recommendations, those apply just as much as the national recommendations.” She was asked by TV4 if the Public Health Agency was considering further restrictions on the national level. She said there were no plans for this, but added that it would depend on the Covid-19 situation as to whether plans for larger public events to be allowed can go ahead. It is the government that decides on this, but it generally follows advice from the Public Health Agency which has already requested twice that the relaxations be postponed due to the severity of the third wave.
Wow you are desperate to spin that. Who said kids don't get Covid? The data shows that for healthy kids covid was like the flu or less since many healthy kids have very mild or no symptoms. Sick kids are at risk.
