Even mild COVID-19 infection often leads to lingering problems: Swedish study http://www.ecns.cn/news/sci-tech/2021-04-08/detail-ihakcqha9130604.shtml Even mild COVID-19 infection often leads to long-term problems, according to a large cohort study among health care professionals in Sweden. Eight months after infection, one in ten had persistent problems severe enough to have a negative impact socially, at work and home, Swedish Television (SVT) reported on Wednesday. The most prevalent symptoms were loss of smell and taste, fatigue, and respiratory difficulties. The study also found that one in four had symptoms lasting for more than two months. "It is important that the public knows that even mild COVID can affect your quality of life negatively for quite some time," Charlotte Thalin, a researcher and specialist physician, told SVT. However, the study including more than 2,000 employees at one of Stockholm's hospitals did not find an increased incidence of other long-term problems that have previously been reported. "There has been talking of palpitations, memory problems, and prolonged fever even after mild COVID. We did not see this in our study," Thalin said, adding that the discrepancy could possibly be explained by the fact that the median age of the subjects in the study was relatively low. The results of the study, which is run by Danderyd University Hospital and Karolinska Institutet in collaboration with KTH Royal Institute of Technology, SciLifeLab, Uppsala University, and the Swedish Public Health Agency, have been published in Journal of the American Medical Association.
The Swedish family I've been interacting with via email and Skype... One of the parents is a long-hauler with persistent symptoms even after recovery from Covid. The parents will soon be vaccinated and hope that it will alleviate some or all of those long-hauler symptoms after hearing it has been a positive side affect of the vaccination in about +20% of long-haulers that were vaccinated. wrbtrader
With all the hate... gwb-a moron and the lefties present against Sweden .... How could Sweden still be doing better than Germany, Spain, France and more... for the months I have been tracking the 7 day rolling average on this chart? Sweden still doing better than many of the EU countries on the list. https://ourworldindata.org/explorer...e&country=SWE~DEU~ESP~BEL~CAN~FRA~GRC~GBR~USA

How can Sweden be so much worse than its neighbors in Scandinavia. Remember this thread is about Sweden in the context of Scandinavia as outlined in the thread title.
He's trolling as usual. They pulled that crap earlier in the thread. Then when I decided to call them out for it via posting the actual model countries as New Zealand, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam and South Korea... They became upset when we did it too via comparing Sweden to countries outside of Scandinavian countries via comparing Sweden to other countries that did not lockdown or had face mask mandates. Yet, comparing Sweden to countries that did not lockdown and had much better Covid performance than Sweden seem to be offensive to them. There was 3 of them and lacesout something was one of them even when Tegnell himself stated whom were the model countries. Actually, 4 of them if you include traderob "liking" their message posts. Hint - It was not Sweden. Now imagine if we also ignore the Covid Deaths in those other top performing countries...their numbers are so small...we could drop it lower down to ZERO. wrbtrader
The title... read it...gwb... Sweden is in Scandinavia. It is fighting the Coronavirus? Where does it say it should not be compared to other countries that may be more more diverse than its Scandinavian neighbors or more similar in other ways? You have been hating on Sweden and Texas and Florida because you hate all the major govt which which refused to enact fascist controls... controls which failed... which were never warranted or supported by the data after the first 3 weeks. you hate freedom.
Swedish region -- overrun by COVID -- urges everyone to stay home. ‘Enter a personal lockdown’: Swedish region’s warning over Covid-19 increase https://www.thelocal.se/20210408/up...e-of-vaccine-to-people-who-have-had-covid-19/
Do you remember the conversation we had awhile back about how the Swedish Health Officials have been very careful about their "wording" (lockdown lite, restrictions, measures and so on)...avoiding the word Lockdown. Now that the Swedish government approved the Pandemic Law...they're now asking people to do "personal lockdown" at home. We should see more protests soon and then if infections continue rising while vaccinations not keeping up... I think we know what will happen next. wrbtrader
