Trends for infections and ICU admits are still improving...
Same Caveat about deaths... but looking at the trends...
Deaths as measured by the 7 day rolling average could be peaking this week and begin a steady decline.

Restrictions in Sweden do in fact work...once again...current decline in the numbers is proof.

The issue will be the re-opening in Sweden when they remove the current restrictions unless Sweden plans to keep the restrictions in place until it can reach particular % of its citizen via vaccination.
    • Too many people let their guard down when restrictions / lockdowns are removed. Hopefully Sweden won't fall into the rabbit hole too.
Numbers in other countries that has been outperforming Sweden...their Covid-19 infections, hospitalizations / ICUs and deaths are declining as well.

Yet, too early to know anything for a few more weeks when these variants of Covid-19 begin to impact countries around the world.

wrb - one page ago... vs today...
    a.

    Wow...only 1.47% of the population.

Sweden and all countries need to get to 10% vaccination to see a dramatic impact in the infections, hospitalizations and deaths from Covid-19.

I'll check later in the way about the vaccination process in those key countries that were outperforming Sweden like New Zealand, Taiwan, Japan and South Korea because I'm becoming more curious about these countries too.

    vs... today...

hey wrb ... new infections and ICU admits per day are now already down dramatically...

I have been pointing that out since a few days after the peaks.

Vaccinations and Restrictions completely different issues.

Science states that right now...restrictions are more effective to managing Covid-19 whereas in the long term...vaccinations will become more important in managing Covid-19 as the population becomes more vaccinated.

Right now...the big issue will be these variants now showing up. They may become a bigger issue later this year and could impact any restriction decisions. Hopefully not.

    Really they are different?
Glad you pointed that out for us...
must be the reason you your arguments seem so incongruous.
Glad you were on top of that distinction.

Now... why are you commenting on a country you don't live in?
Isn't that what you have been telling me?

    As stated before...

I do in fact have a vested interest or want to have a vested interest and the details were specifically detailed in an earlier Sweden thread.

by the way for those who care... (which may on be a handful of people or less)

nine morons and wrb... argue... in a very similar manner...
almost as if they are the same person.
They will make any distinction possible as a counter argument,
no matter the relevance or importance.

The problem is that someone here doesn't listen to well or does not have a very good memory about issues specifically stated before there was a debate. :D

By the way, nobody here is like me nor debate like me. Impossible there's some here that shares similar interests in the following issues (South Dakota, Chicago, Military, Québec, France, Sweden, Rowing, Ski Resorts). :D

hey wrb ... you blocked me from being able to read or search your detritus about your connection to Sweden.

You are making another one of those really infantile lefty arguments which makes no sense upon even a cursory examination.

We should not be considering the a countries response to Covid because we don't have the type of nexus you consider important? (and yet you don't even know the extent of my connections) Wow... the shit people post on the internet.

Before we provide the Tuesday figures on registered COVID deaths in Sweden to keep the record straight... let's go once again walk through the weekly reporting cycle for COVID information in Sweden including new registered deaths. Reports are released on the following four days:

    • Tuesday (data for the previous three days which consists of Saturday, Sunday, and Monday)
    • Wednesday (data for the previous 24 hours since Tuesday morning)
    • Thursday (data for the previous 24 hours since Wednesday morning)
    • Friday (data for the previous 24 hours since Thursday morning)
The sole exception to this COVID schedule is when Sweden has a national holiday and COVID data is not delivered on the national holiday.

Sweden registers 9,123 new COVID-19 cases, 242 deaths since Friday
    https://www.reuters.com/article/hea...9-cases-242-deaths-since-friday-idUSL8N2K13WA

Sweden, whose unorthodox pandemic strategy has placed it in the global spotlight, registered 9,123 new coronavirus cases since Friday, health agency statistics showed on Tuesday.

The figure compares to 9,779 cases the corresponding period last week.

The country of 10 million inhabitants registered 242 new deaths, taking the total to 11,247. The deaths registered have occurred over several days and sometimes weeks.

Sweden’s death rate per capita is several times higher than that of its Nordic neighbours’ but lower than in several European countries that opted for lockdowns.
