OF COURSE!!!! This is the biggest thing that the COVIDIOTS fail to mention. In 2019 there was a significantly weak flu season in Sweden. Henceforth - dry tinder - lots of people were going to die if a slightly more virulent strain came around. Dry tinder...
I have a more detailed chart that show's Sweden Covid-19 deaths have been increasing and Covid-19 ICU hospitalization has been increasing... Yet, I don't have any recent info for the most recent few days because of how Sweden delays reporting their data. Simply, next week I'll have this weeks data. But...I'm not going to share. wrbtrader
Back to the subject of Switzerland on the Sweden thread. At what point does increasing restrictions become a lockdown? They don't like using the "lockdown" term anymore.... so they just increase restrictions to the point where it becomes the same as a lockdown. Switzerland to ban public events to contain worsening Covid-19 situation https://www.straitstimes.com/world/...vents-to-contain-worsening-covid-19-situation
Let's take a look at deaths per million in Germany and Sweden over the entire date range. Obviously Germany had much fewer deaths per million than Sweden. https://ourworldindata.org/coronavi...othing=7&pickerMetric=location&pickerSort=asc
Cool story bro. now compare to UK, Italy, Spain, Belgium and tell us WHY those countries have a higher D/M when they locked down and Sweden, who had no mask mandate nor any significant lockdown measures, has a lower D/M. It is not possible unless of course you understand how viruses virus.
And yet in "no lockdown" Sweden which was going to achieve "natural herd immunity" so they wouldn't endure a second wave --- now has much worse deaths/cases per million than UK, Spain, etc. Sweden's own government already has stated their strategy has been a complete failure. It is time you do the same.
Sweden Proposes New Covid Law to Let It Shut Down Businesses https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...-new-covid-law-to-let-it-shut-down-businesses
‘We need help,’ says Stockholm healthcare chief as COVID fills intensive care wards https://whbl.com/2020/12/09/we-need...re-chief-as-covid-fills-intensive-care-wards/ he head of Stockholm's health service appealed to national authorities on Wednesday to send specialist nurses and other hospital staff as it struggles to cope with a second wave of COVID infections that has filled intensive care wards in Sweden's capital city. Sweden, which has not opted for the kind of lockdown adopted by many other European nations, has suffered many times more COVID-19 deaths per capita than its Nordic neighbours, with the total reaching almost 7,300 on Wednesday. Stockholm and the surrounding region are among the areas hardest hit with 2,836 deaths. Infection rates are picking up again after a lull in the summer and autumn, and intensive care wards are now full. "We need help," Bjorn Eriksson, the director of healthcare for the Stockholm region, told a news conference. There were 814 COVID-19 patients being treated in Stockholm hospitals and geriatric wards on Wednesday, up from 748 last Friday, the region said. That compares with roughly 1,100 patients during the spring outbreak of the disease. Eriksson said 83 patients were treated in intensive care in Stockholm. "That corresponds more or less to all intensive care beds we normally have," he said. Faced by a surge in new cases in recent weeks, Sweden's government has tightened restrictions on public gatherings while high schools have been told to switch to distance learning for the rest of the term. On Wednesday the government said it wanted parliament to grant it more power to implement lockdown measures such as closing shopping malls and gyms. So far, however, measures have mostly been voluntary and media have been full of pictures of crowded shopping streets in the run-up to Christmas. Eriksson called for stricter adherence to the government's guidelines to help relieve the pressure on the healthcare system. "Enough is enough. It simply cannot be worth it, to have after-work drinks and hustle of Christmas present shopping ... The consequences are horrible," he said.
Although we only have access to delayed Covid-19 data...they obviously must have something very concerning in their real-time data for Sweden health officials to consider a "shutter businesses" as a last resort although I'm not sure how different that is from a "lockdown" that was initially used by other countries (e.g. United States, Canada, France). The other story...vaccines are now being sent to countries around the world and the U.K. has already started vaccination of their elderly. I will be paying attention for any Sweden vaccination news to see where they are with that in comparison to other countries. wrbtrader
You point your finger at Sweden saying that they didn’t achieve their goal of herd immunity. But you fail to point your finger at those who do lockdowns and mask mandates. Which DO NOT WORK EITHER. As is evidenced by the deaths and ‘cases’. Not to mention the many other tragic results. Because you don’t understand how viruses virus. Sweden has done it right so far. If they start locking down - they will be doing it wrong too, just like the rest of the world.
