Apples to apples, Sweden is doing very poorly.

    yeah...
that is the way to compare Covid responses... competition between "idiot cousins"

not things an intelligent person would consider...

    no need to look at...

    population density...
    age
    health
    jobs...
    Freedom,
travel to and from...both domestic and international...
    medical treatment

Merkel Seeks to Rally Germans as Virus Death Toll Mounts

(Bloomberg) -- Chancellor Angela Merkel sought to rally citizens after Germany reported its worst run of coronavirus fatalities since the pandemic broke out. “We have come a long way,” she said in her weekly podcast published on the government’s website, imploring people to wear masks and stick to social-distancing measures as cases mount. “Each and everyone one of us still has a role to play.”

Merkel’s comments come after coronavirus deaths exceeded 300 for a fifth day on Friday, the first time that’s happened since the disease reached Germany. The toll is another grim milestone after cases reported in Europe’s most-populous country exceeded 1 million on Thursday. Merkel expressed sympathy to those who have died or lost people to the virus. “And we think of those who are this very hour

Sweden will continue to do very poorly as every one else except for countries that are performing better than Sweden and that did not not Lockdown.

Regardless, I think overall the other Scandinavian countries are performing better than Sweden and those Scandinavian countries did in fact Lockdown. Yeah, Sweden does care a lot about Norway in that Sweden has about 80k of its civilians crossing the border to work in Norway.
    • Does that imply that Lockdowns do work ?
Of course not but wanted to show Lockdowns do in fact work and that we can not just look at Covid-19 performance as the sole statistic.

I should start another thread about the countries doing much better than Sweden and why but that would be pouring salt on Sweden's failure at herd immunity.

Yet, vaccines are coming soon...Sweden along with the rest of the world can then achieve herd immunity assuming 2/3 of the world population takes the vaccine after being polled they will not because they don't trust it after its been politicized or are anti-vaxxers for other reasons.

We may want to hold on to something because this rodeo ride is not over.

As second COVID wave spreads, Sweden’s anti-lockdown top doc sidelined

    By Joseph Wilkinson

The Swedish doctor who led the country’s lax coronavirus response may be mothballed by the government.

Anders Tegnell, head of the country’s Public Health Agency, saw his Thursday press conference usurped by Prime Minister Stefan Lofven’s own address, the U.K. Telegraph reported.

Swedish papers have reported beef between Tegnell and Lofven as the country experiences a second wave of coronavirus infections.
    • Tegnell argued during the first wave in the spring that a hands-off approach to the pandemic would prevent such a second wave.
But Sweden recorded 31,000 COVID cases last week and even more the week before, according to World Health Organization data. Both numbers were far higher than those tallied in the spring.

Deaths have also increased in November, with more than 400 people dying in the past two weeks.

Sweden has responded with minor measures to limit spread but has still held off on a large scale lockdown.

Sweden’s no-lockdown approach drew international attention, especially as much of the world shut down in March, April and May. In June, Tegnell admitted that the country should’ve done more to prevent the spread of the virus.
    • More than 6,600 people in Sweden have died from COVID-19, according to WHO data. Its Scandinavian neighbors, Norway and Finland, combine for almost the same population, but fewer than 800 people in the two countries have died from COVID-19.
“I’m pretty sure that many in the government have rather lost faith in the Public Health Agency,” Swedish professor Nicholas Aylott told the Telegraph.

Jem still hasn't caught up to the fact that everything he claimed about Sweden and Covid is in the wastebasket by now. How tone death do you have to be to still be highlighting Germany and Canada that have much, much lower death rates this year then Sweden and the US ? And why has he not figured out yet that the reason California is getting hit less hard in the second wave then many other states are the very restrictions he bitches about on here every week ? Or he could look at Alberta in Canada that had the loosest restrictions until they got hit hard with Covid recently.

Perhaps he should move to South Dakota or Florida where they are more closely aligned with his own views on Covid. San Diego is pretty similar to Toronto these days whenever I've looked, except our schools remain open for now ( except for a few ).

All have far higher deaths per 100k than Sweden.

And yet those countries locked down hard.

Sweden didn’t lock down AT ALL...

People who don’t understand science or how viruses virus conveniently ignore these facts.

Let’s forget Peru which had perhaps the most draconian lockdown of any country in the world...and has the highest deaths per 100k of any country over 15M people.

Yeah Canada doing great...LOL. Maybe the human broomstick Tam has an explanation for this? Trump’s fault.

Alberta? Are you fucking kidding? They have 11% of Canada’s population but only 4% of covid deaths.

Libtards hate science and are just dim. Especially Canadian Libtards. Good lord.

I highlighted above a common theme among these Sweden advocates for herd immunity and the Trump supporters...

The initial lockdown dramatically dropped the infections, hospitalizations and deaths.

Yet, the Covididiots immediately begin stating that "Lockdowns Failed" even though the curve had been flatten.

Next, when states begin the re-open...they continue stating "Lockdowns Failed" while forgetting the states are now in the re-open phases and many states ignoring the CDC guidelines. Essentially, the states created their own re-opening guidelines and in comparison with other states...each stated re-open differently instead of following the CDC Guidelines for re-opening.

The main problem was that there was "No National Mandate for Re-Opening" via the excuse that governors of each state should manage it via the needs of their own state. Yet, I still don't understand that considering there was a "National Lockdown" that shut down the economy...why weren't they saying then about what the governors can do ???

Now in the 2nd wave...many states are forced to do restrictions...some of those states seeing their infections and hospitalizations start to decline.

Yep, the same Covididiots are now saying "Lockdowns Failed"....comical. :D

The good thing is that a lot of chaos created by Trump will soon be out of the way and no longer brainwashing people about Covid-19. We'll have a new government that's going to take the Pandemic very serious now that we're nearing the distribution phases of a vaccine.

The next step...convince 2/3 of the population that the vaccine is safe and needed to get back to normal. Good luck with that after many months of misinformation and disinformation from the current administration (Trump / Pence).
