    • "if possible refrain from having physical contact with other people than those you live with. That includes among other things a recommendation against organising or attending a party or similar social occasion. You should also avoid certain kinds of activities if they cannot be carried out without physical distance to others, such as contact sports or health or beauty care that is not medically justified.
    • Refrain from being in indoor environment such as shops, shopping centres, museums, libraries, swimming pools and gyms, with the exception of for example grocery stores and pharmacies.
    • Refrain from taking part in meetings, concerts, shows, sports training, matches or competitions. This does not apply to sports training for children and young people born 2005 or later.
    • Businesses, organisations, and workplaces should also take measures to ensure that visitors or employees are able to follow the local coronavirus recommendations. This could include limiting the number of visitors and making sure staff can work from home.
Ninety Covid-19 patients are currently being treated in intensive care in Sweden – fewer than during the peak of the outbreak in spring when more than 500 patients were in intensive care, but a serious increase compared to September. Intensive care patients with Covid-19 have now increased by more than 30 in one week alone.

"I want to remind everyone, and not just those covered by the stricter recommendations, the whole country needs to understand the importance of the situation: if we don't manage to reduce our social contacts, if we don't manage to stick to the recommendations, we will not be able to keep down the sharp rise we are now seeing in cases," Tegmark Wisell said, warning that this would have serious consequences both for the healthcare sector and for individuals' health."

Sweden once again with a rational response to Covid.

If you were to include testing and tracing of the symptomatic where there are clusters...
and the lockdown of national borders absent strong testing of those coming in who have good reason...

I would say they would then have a model response.

T-cells provides the response to the infection.

Antibodies provides the immunity to the infection.

Usually when someone talks about T-Cell Immunity (cross reactive memory)...its a conversation about "reactivation of the T-cells" in people that had no known prior exposure to Covid-19.
    • It impacts the severity of the disease and can be used to determine the viral spread in the population.
The above is only part of the immunity equation.

There's also Antibody Immunity (sometimes refer to as seasonal immunity). This can be tested via a lockdown of the population and then the re-opening (removing the lockdown).

If infections begin to rise after removing the lockdown...one can assume there's no antibody immunity. In contrast, if infections began to decline after removing the lockdown...one can assume there's antibody immunity.

I think people get T-cell Immunity and Antibody Immunity mixed up.

With that said, this is about Sweden.
    • Has Sweden achieved Herd Immunity ?
There's many articles / studies that say Sweden has not achieved herd immunity...they have not and one of those articles is posted below.

    https://www.webmd.com/lung/news/20200813/swedens-no-lockdown-policy-didnt-achieve-herd-immunity

Some studies say up to one year of immunity, others say about 6 months of immunity. The key to remember, Covid-19 is a new type of Coronavirus although Coronavirus is not new. Simply, what they tell you today, it'll most likely change next week including research results.

I predict, Covid-19 vaccinations will be given every few years to control its spread just like the FLU.

Sweden's deaths and ICU admissions have declined considerably since June, likely due to protections for nursing-home residents and more social distancing over the summer months. But cases could still climb again as schools reopen, nursing homes allow visitors, and people return home to cities after summer vacation.

Obviously, Sweden does not have Herd Immunity while its Scandinavian neighbours still do not have death counts near that of Sweden. Therefore, when a vaccination is develop for the world...Sweden will obviously look back to see if their high death count and targeted restrictions (tighter measures) was worth it.

Thanks for reinforcing the information regarding T-Cell response.

Jem seems to not be able to understand that T-Cells provide a response while antibodies provide immunity. This is very scientific foundation of how T-Cell response and Antibody immunity works.

Jems continuous squawking that Sweden has "natural herd immunity" even with COVID antibodies being present in less than 10% of the population --- because he claims that "T-Cell immunity" accounts for an additional 40% or more of the population is absurd. It is simply non-scientific talking points to drive his no-lockdown political agenda. At this point even Sweden sees that the no-lockdown response has failed and is imposing restrictions.

Infections are almost guaranteed to rise after lockdown. Lockdown most likely cause some antibodies to fade in some of your previously immune population.

The question is ... if infections begin to taper off after the virus has infected part of the population.

GWB does not understand plain english....

    from the BBC...

"The researchers say it is possible that a good T-cell response might provide people who had symptoms with more protection against being infected again.

But it could also be that asymptomatic people are simply able to fight off the virus without needing to build up a large immune response.

They said it was important to check for a T-cell response in trials of vaccines."

See, I try to stay out of this thread, but then I read such a stupid comment like "Country's death toll passed 6000". Sure, it passed 6000, but it passed 5900 like a month ago. 4 people reported dead yesterday, 15 in the last week - maybe.

Stop with the fantastic scare headlines.
