What Rand, and some others seem to miss is that, there is not a single piece of legislation( particularly when it comes to ethnics), that has not needed to be enforced at the point of a bayonet, either fiscal or actual. Government HAD to step in because most of the people either lacked the will or the courage to change for the better, as well as more than a few who didn't think that civil rights was a better thing. There are still people today, with a sitting African-American president who are talking about people without property being disenfranchised. The descendants of the Confederacy just never got over that loss. Understandable considering they were winning most of the time, but the facts are that they lost, and the South will not rise again.
Oh, it would not go well, but it wouldn't be nearly as bad as if you got caught practicing your beliefs about pedophilia. LOL!!! LOL!!!
In fact, it was "states rights" that effectively destroyed reconstruction. They held that line until Tennessee gentleman Andrew Jackson put an end to it at the federal level. Pure Libertarianism will not work, it will be reduced to warlords and fiefdoms. Government has to enforce the greater good of the nation from time to time.
Hmm, well libertarianism sure did do a good job of taking the USA from undeveloped wilderness to the largest economic, academic, scientific, military, and cultural power in the world in a few centuries of existence... But NOW for some reason it wouldn't work.
Yep, another confirmation that education here is in decline. I said PURE libertarianism, and even went on to say why. Thanks for playing tho.
Libertarianism on the back of slaves, no rights for women, Chinese labor, killing native Americans, child labor... You are one lunatic crazed person if you think America was libertarian for all Americans... It is a bit like saying the lords in England had a libertarian existence...because they didn't have to answer to anyone...
