What does slavery have to do with it. The only reason the Federal Government got involved is because the Democratic Southern states succeeded from the union. This gave the legal right for the Federal Government to take action.
The Civil Rights Act gives the Federal government the legal right to take action against businesses practicing racism...something that Rand wants to stop... Rand wants to restore the South to the states having the right to practice racism if they so choose...including slavery by private business. In some perverse way, Rand places human rights below the rights of a business...
