A million hours of screen-time, the sting of costly mistakes, and an inextinguishable fire to stay in the game and win everyday. "Tis a sharp wit matched with too blunt a will; Whose edge hath power to cut, ....and whose will... still wills". -Shakespeare
Agree. This is the only edge available to the retail trader. Most will not accept this, let alone implement it prudently
As a retail trader my edge is that I can get in and out without moving the price more than a few ticks, and therefore trade inside players moving much bigger size.
Mostly agree, but not entirely. "Edge" is when you have an advantage over the play... like counting cards in black jack.... or front-running orders*... or insider information. There are NO legal edges in the markets for us retail screen jockeys. (Discipline and smarts are not market edges. They might be advantages over traders more stupid than others, but that's still not edge over the market.) *One exception. That is, if a trader subscribes to "instant news source"... that he can/might act on the news faster than others. That's kind of like front-running orders, but legal... in the sense that any player could have access to instant news if he cared to. However, the notion of "trading instantly on fresh news" has plenty of warts to go along with it.
