In my idea, the problem with america is...

  1. I wonder how long that attitude would last, if the West said "fine, keep your goods, we areen't buying anymore"

China has to grow like crazy just to tamp down the severe economic pressures of people pouring into the cities looking for work.

How about we turn away all those cargo containers coming into western harbours and see how long you rule the world?

A few things to keep in mind about China, yes they have made great strides toward being a free market system (and who are they emulating I wonder?) but they are facing serious growing pains because they still have the dead weight of a centrally planned system to deal with. We don't have price controls on food in this country (yet) but they have in China and still there are many hungry people there. The other thing to keep in mind is that while the average Chinese person works their arse off compared to the average American the average American lives like a king compared to the average Chinese so you can throw that in to the equation as far as who is dumb and who isn't. There are obviously ignorant and uneducated people in every country and if I were Chinese I wouldn't be laughing about those who happen to live in the US as there are hundreds of millions more in China who are equally ignorant and uneducated. Indeed, one might even question whether rejoicing in the lack of education of another is particularly enlighteded. After all, if there was to ever be a conflict with China it would be the ignorant and uneducated that would be quick to say "Nuke 'em"! so be careful what you wish for, just like the ignorant and uneducated in China are easily led by the propagandist nationalism the government there uses to keep its population in check.

Going to rural China is like going back a century and it is truly a third world country that makes even southern Alabama look civilized. Individuals have very little true freedom and are at the mercy of local tin pot dictators who can just come in out of the blue and evict hundreds if not thousands simply because they have been paid off by a developer who wants their land. Sure ED is abused here in the US but not even close to the same extent nor as blatant. Due process here is at least given some respect, in China it is in its infancy as is the rule of law in general. I could go on and on.

Certainly the potential for China to be a great economy and power is there and it should be welcomed by those who believe in free trade and democracy but it is going to face some real challenges of a systemic nature that the US has already dealt with. The more developed the middle class becomes (and as of right now the middle class in China is still tiny compared to developed nations) the more they will no longer tolerate the lack of fairness in Chinese society and the more ethnic differences and prejudices will emerge. We people get above survival level they start to think about these types of things and in 10 years from now it is questionable if Beijing would be able to get away with another Tiananmen without its own population taking serious issue.

Chinese who suddenly feel superior would do well to remember that they have learnt a great deal from the US and they should also learn the lesson of the danger of hubris, it may save them from having to learn it the hard way.

  3. Why would anyone want to live in such a cesspool of pollution and toxicity?

    Ever fly into Beijing, China?
Could you tell if the sun was out?
    I couldn't.

    Get real.

    They certainly aren't 'dumb'...
Many of them know EXACTLY what they are doing...

  8. Yes...big consumers, but big producers too...
now, we produce virtually nothing in comparison to what we consume...
Is it because we are so rich?
    or so stupid?
    or both?

  9. I'd say you are more right than wrong on this one...
    Parenting is always first...
So many kids are growing up with only one parent, and children spend very little time with their folks...
back in the day, at least the maternal unit was always there for the kid...

    BUT

Teachers are a disaster...how many of you can think back and say "Man, Mr. or Ms. so and so was the BEST teacher".
I can think of 3 teachers in my entire life (out of prolly 200) that were excellent. The rest were useless fuckwads protected by a union that will only kick them out if they jerked off onto the blackboard in the middle of class...

First of all, I'm sorry i dint responded earlier , If i sow that there are so many responds i would have responded earlier,
First to al pepole that cursed me, i understand your pain... Just soo you'll know my biggest intrest is that america keeps his status of a super country, my biggest fear is that america loses here power.... Why???? because I'm from Israel... Why do you think i know all this stuff about america.. because i see the same things in here in Israel... I see all the youth only think about there cell-phones and i see the 12 years girls all day thinking about what to wear and what to buy...
We have the same tv ...
We have (sort of) the same youth ....
what i meant in learning for chine is that chines pepole know how to do hard work... they know how to work hard.. and this is something that i think alot of americanes have lost....
And i want to fix myself.. you right the education should come from the parents..., but if the parents don't know how would they teach the childrens?
Maybe a big country scale program (something that china has allot of..)
Please don't be angry about me.. My only hope is that America will get out of the crisis... and will stop been in debt ...
As one man in the post said.. spending your own money on stupid stuff is one thing.. but spending money that is not yours on stupid things is really stupid...

Again my post was for seen if i'm right or not... It wasn't meant to make anyone angry , as you might now know, because if America is out of the game Israel has not so big chance in making another 60 years.. ( I dont really think that Israel (without nukes) can win a war with all the Arab countries , now the Iran has had so much progress in military )
