In historic move, Asheville approves reparations for Black residents

  1. I don't need an excuse, just stating the facts. The systemic racism and discrimination in 1966 does not exist today and hasn't existed for several decades. It is impossible to overstate how dramatically improved the opportunities are for the black community in general. Two, possibly three generations of blacks have experienced these opportunities. The failure by a small percentage of them to have realized a better life for themselves is on them, not the system.

  2. Tell us more of this world you are from. It sounds fascinating.

  3. What public schools or universities are denying people entry based on race alone? What corporations are not hiring blacks simply because they're black?

there’s a lot of stories of corporations not hiring blacks because they are blacks.

there was an experiment done By Rutgers 3 months ago that showed banks were less willing to process PPP loans for blacks who were more qualified than whites for those loans.

there’s an article on businessinsider about a black lady who graduated from Michigan law school and her net worth is 1/100th her white friends. Why? White shoe law firms don’t hire more than one token African American. She ended working in public service which pays a lot less and overtime meant her earnings were a lot less.

It’s definitely better than 1966. Are you saying it’s good enough?

black privilege is out of control. we need to adhere to a merit based system. why do blacks get everything handed to them?

  7. It's not just better, it's dramatically better, and it's been plenty good enough for the majority of blacks. In the racist America portrayed by the left you'd think every black person would be relegated to pushing brooms, cleaning toilets, washing dishes and the like. In this pretend racist America no black person would have a high school diploma let alone a college degree. They would have no presence in media, politics, or academia. Obviously this isn't the case. A few, very few are not participating in this wide open opportunity. They are mostly dwelling in the inner cities with the majority of those cities democratic strongholds with failing educational systems, extraordinarily high crime, ridiculously high rate of single parent homes and plenty of local political types pointing fingers and making excuses trying to explain away their own failures in policy making.

so in your eyes, it’s good enough even though it’s definitely (proven with one study after another) that African Americans treated worse that whites in virtually every facet of society.

more maybe the argument you are trying to make that slavery wasn’t a racist policy because there were some black slave owners.
