What total spin here. I was just mentioning in another thread Trumps lunch with Romney and Collins was most likely related to their refusal to dismiss articles of impeachment. Then, lo and behold, right after lunch the White House endorses a trial in the senate.

Don’t believe it for a minute, Trump did not want this. The longer this runs the more time for courts to clear Bolton, Mulvaney et al to testify.

Explain how it didn't impair and obstruct an investigation. If that wasn't obstruction, what is?

    Barack Obama

The Obama administration asserted executive privilege in June 2012 in response to a House investigation of Operation Fast and Furious, a controversial “gunwalking” operation in which the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives allowed the running of guns in hopes that they could be tracked to Mexican drug cartel figures.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) demanded documents relating to the Justice Department’s response to the operation, which Attorney General Eric Holder refused to provide.

The committee voted 23-17 to hold Holder in contempt of Congress for his failure to release the documents, with the full chamber voting in favor of contempt 255-67.

The Justice Department cited executive privilege again to decline to prosecute him on the contempt charge.

Ah, two wrongs make an excuse ;) There is no point in comparing apples and oranges, Obama was not subject to an impeachment investigation.

"Impairing the due and proper administration of justice and the conduct of lawful inquiries"

Trump has argued as Nixon did he can't be charged with obstruction of justice. Others see it as a president has wide latitude UNLESS he is putting personal gain over the duties of his office to the people and constitution.

In short, if the republicans who controlled the House believed Fast and Furious contained impeachable matters, they would and should have opened an enquiry, but.. they did not.

    Not in this list anyway.

I brought up a child, I'm good at shutting down nonsense.

Nunes: Ladies and gentlemen of this supposed impeachment inquiry..

Another day you can learn about what lawyers think of hearsay vs non-lawyers.
