  3. "The gods offer no rewards for intellect. There was never one yet that showed any interest in it."
    -- Mark Twain

God has never shown any interest in man's puny intellect, that is true. How can such inferior intellect interest God? Now, you and Twain can play mind games with each other for amusement--BOLT:D

  5. Probably all organic beings which have ever lived on this earth have descended from some one primordial form, into which life was first breathed. There is grandeur in this view of life that, whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being evolved.
    -- Charles Darwin

  6. We live on a hunk of rock and metal that circles a humdrum star that is one of 400 billion other stars that make up the Milky Way Galaxy which is one of billions of other galaxies which make up a universe which may be one of a very large number, perhaps an infinite number, of other universes. That is a perspective on human life and our culture that is well worth pondering.
    -- Carl Sagan

  7. Think of how many religions attempt to validate themselves with prophecy. Think of how many people rely on these prophecies, however vague, however unfulfilled, to support or prop up their beliefs. Yet has there ever been a religion with the prophetic accuracy and reliability of science? ... No other human institution comes close.
    -- Carl Sagan,

  8. I would love to believe that when I die I will live again, that some thinking, feeling, remembering part of me will continue. But as much as I want to believe that, and despite the ancient and worldwide cultural traditions that assert an afterlife, I know of nothing to suggest that it is more than wishful thinking.
    -- Carl Sagan

  10. There is no way thunderbolt could understand beacuse he is not a sovereign being. He is dependent, afraid and in need of validation from up high. All this Beacuse he was taught these fantasies when he didn't know any better, taught to be fearful and dependent. In reality he is in awe and fearful of those who can use their own minds. He just doesn't trust his own mind.

there is no way the universe is built on moral principles. This is just the same as saying the earth is the center of the universe and everything revolves around it. It is the desire of man to be special in the universe. So in reality religion is nothing more than the fear of insignificance and a finite existence coupled with the supreme arrogance of man.

Man must look at himself honestly and be his own God. Accept himself and his situation without resorting to fantasy. Then the road is clear to move forward.

The "unbeliever" is strong beacuse he looks at himself honestly instead of denying himself and reality like the believer does.
