Immigrants Aim To 'Close' US Cities on May 1st

Discussion in 'Politics' started by capmac, Apr 28, 2006.

  1. Agree... add to that that any bill that comes out will likely make it tougher on these workers and easier on employers.

It's just another cynical attempt to create a political wedge issue -- which judging from the flames in this thread seems to be working...

  2. Agreed,

Whatever comes to law out of this should be tough on both workers and employers, but that won't happen because our government is for big corps. run by former big corps officers.

That being said, I realize that we can't get rid of 12-20 million illegals, but we do need to stop the new wave from running accross. High fence and military. Also$2k for penality seems light, I say double to $4k to cover those unpaid taxes and visits to ER. Let them pay the $2k upfront, that they would have paid to a smuggler, and then make payments on the other amount.

What I don't understand.......I hear all of this we don't have the computer system and infastructure in place to track visa and temp workers. We don't have enough officers to chase after illegals. Why not? We spend all this money on Iraq and Katrina and we can afford to upgrade the governement's computer infastructure?A better question is what has happened to the priorties of this once great nation. Hell we just print money when we feel like it anyway from what I have read.

Sorry to get off topic, but hopefully you can see that they are related. Enough of my ranting and raving. :D

The majority of mexicans,West coast, didn't come here to live and work in america. They are here, and the ones I work with do work, but in their minds heart and soul they believe they are now in northern mexico. It's not integration of cultures but when are you going to join us in all things mexican. The fool in L.A.at the last march summed this up with the statement"Now the world knows we own L.A."Monday should be even more entertaining.

There are some problems with the logic here:
Illegal immigrants don't have the right to work, correct? So why call this strike? Why everyone is suddenly concerned they don't go to work on the 1st of May? Does it mean they are actually needed here? So then why they are called illegal immigrants?

My fellow ETers, I just want to say it's been nice sharing with you over the years. The reason I am writing this is because, today being April 30, we all know what is coming tomorrow. We may no longer be able to participate on places like ET when our country gets shut down tomorrow.

We will no longer have a country because the illegals are going to prove tomorrow that we just can't make it without them. Many of our politicians seem to believe that we can't live without these illegals, as do many posters here on ET. So, it must be true.

    Please see my next post.

  10. May sound silly, but I wonder if it will make the markets act strange? I guess it depends on the impact after the first couple of hours.
