May 1 immigrant boycott aims to "close" US cities

    By Dan Whitcomb

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Pro-immigration activists say a national boycott and marches planned for May 1 will flood America's streets with millions of Latinos to demand amnesty for illegal immigrants and shake the ground under Congress as it debates reform.

Such a massive turnout could make for the largest protests since the civil rights era of the 1960s, though not all Latinos were comfortable with such militancy, fearing a backlash in Middle America.

"There will be 2 to 3 million people hitting the streets in Los Angeles alone. We're going to close down Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Tucson, Phoenix, Fresno," said Jorge Rodriguez, a union official who helped organize earlier rallies credited with rattling Congress as it weighs the issue.

Immigration has split Congress, the Republican Party and public opinion. Conservatives want the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants returned to Mexico and a fence built along the border.

Others, including President George W. Bush, want a guest-worker program and a path to citizenship. Most agree some reform is needed to stem the flow of poor to the world's biggest economy.

"We want full amnesty, full legalization for anybody who is here (illegally)," Rodriguez said. "That is the message that is going to be played out across the country on May 1."

Unbelievable. People who sneak into country illegally (already violate US law) now DEMANDING(!) citizenship. if US will say, sure-it will be just plain stupid. Send them back along with protesters. if they ignore your country law once(perhaps not once, because they not paying taxes and as illegal-they don't have right to work in US)they will do it again. not to mention criminals, who will receive a great gift for free. What a great idea-amnesty. Amnesty should be for educated specialists (but i bet-they already found ways, how to get into country legally).
By doing this-US get one step closer to France. Soon-you will see burned cars on streets of LA.

  3. If there protest works, if, it may hurt the hotel industry, but I don't think it will. There will be another illegal alien standing right there that can make pancakes at the Bellagio while Hector is protesting on the strip. Look at their desperate behavior at pick up sites, they fight like dogs for $50 a day jobs. It's sad. I hope it shows them how replaceable they are. Maybe a lawn won't get cut for the day so what, the next day it will. It's about a useful as boycotting a gas station to complain to Exxon Mobile, the next day you fill up. If they do fill the streets and disrup traffic I hope they hit them with water hoses. Fox needs to fix his mess, stop exporting peasants to import USD and convert to Pesos.

  4. It wouldn't be the first time and it has been done by citizens any number of times.

It probably is a bit over the top -- probably media looking for a quote -- but if illegal immigrants can bring out millions of people and stop business in major urban centers it will definitely say something about their role in the economy. If they really want to go for it they should hit more time sensitive areas -- harvesting crops, hospitals, etc... It would be interesting just to see what businesses suddenly stopped functioning. Imagine if Disneyland were closed. :)

All that aside, the problem is that the US can't afford to subsidize employers by providing free everything to illegal immigrants. It's at the employer end that the crackdown has to begin...

  5. Heh.. They don't realize this is america, and even in america, the CITIZENS ARE REPLACEABLE lol...

Like someone said, for every protestor, there is 50 folks right behind him in line willing to work. Disrupt American business? I don't think so.

It's just plain stupid, and a slap in the face. GO BACK HOME and friggin work there!

  6. Over generalizing is always dangerous. It wasn't too long go that african americans were considered 3/5 of a person. I wont be booking my flight to Mexico anytime soon. Have a good weekend.

May 1 used to be the biggest communist holiday in Eastern Europe, that's why the timing. Latinos are bringing bolshevism to America and if they get their wish i will start believing that's the beginning of the end. Huge left-wing voting block demanding rights they are not supposed to have by the law.
It might be the time to start planning an exit strategy. Scary shit.

  8. Look in the mirror, you are allowing this,

I'd have thrown them all out 20 years ago., on thier arses.

    Your country is being overrun.

Do something about it or bend over and stfu.

If you'll get out of my way, I'll be glad to help round em up.
