  1. you are correct. again, if it wasn't clear from my post - i was saying poker (and futures trading) are zero sum - ASSUMING you don't cost in the commissions.

it is true that online and casino poker is not zero sum due to the rake.

a true zero sum game would be your home game, although even there u usually h ave to chip in for beer :)

  2. I also played poker and I keep going back to the principles I learned while on my quest towards trading. I think it's a very sound base for you to have.

  3. That's fair...you bring the beer, I bring the chips, and I'm coming out ahead...

I hear a lot about these "rich dad poor dad" books and i've seen them in bookstores. I saw the author on tv promoting something and he seems like a real tool...talking about how it is good to have debt and all this kind of crap. Can anyone tell me what this guy's all about?

  6. Kiyosaki's book is quite useless. I have 3 of his audiobooks but I've listened to 1 of it. Basically, he encourages people to be courageous and face risk in the real estate market (though calculated). It's really more of a motivational pump-you-up talk book than something you can gather actual, tangible knowledge about the real estate market.

    Don't waste your money.

What I got from reading some RDPD books is basically a wake up about what you're doing with your money. I wouldn't read him to learn specifics of investing, but i would recommend his books to an absolute idiot who spends money without really thinking about it. He's like a wake up call. But most of you on here have already woken up about money so it's likely of no use to any of you. As for Suze Orman...no thanks. :p
