    40% year after year, I'm sure they know nothing. Why disclose IP by filing a patent if you're making 40% year after year?

  2. RenTech reserves the best fund for themselves to maximize their earnings. RenTech reserves the inferior funds to outside investors. For these inferior funds, if RenTech cannot make money from the markets, RenTech can at least make money from outside investors who have to pay for inferior performance regardless of returns.

    RenTech has a very good business model. Even better than typical hedge fund. It's a disgusting way to make a living. Having said that, I do like RenTech's transparency. They're completely honest with outside investors about this one-sided business model. So, if these rich suckers decide to take up RenTech's offer, don't blame RenTech. Blame themselves. YOu have a choice whether you want to be a sucker or not.

    @comagnum,

    Patents come a dime a dozen, 11 is nothing.

    14 Nobel Prize Laureates? First of all Bell Lab does not have 14 Nobel Prize winners in total in its history. Second, most of the Nobel Prize winners stays with Research Lab or Research Universities.

    Every year you have maybe one or two winners in Physics or Chemistry. in 20 years you have maybe 40-80, 17%-35% of Nobel Physics and Chemistry Laureates worked in this Quant? o_O

    Remember it used to be Neural Networks, Neural Networks, Neural Networks + Fractals. Then FFT, FFT, FFT, FFT. Now it is the next old news: DSP, DSP, DSP, DSP.
    Add Nobel claims and anything else your marketing department comes up with. Starving academics are dime a dozen. Remember Peak Oil? PhD after PhD, Names and all that. In trading floor days we used to see tons of those, and the trading was the equaliser and differentiator.
