    LOL, @stevegee58 nailed it!

I think one of the main issues for me is non-programmers don't quite understand the complexities of automating something that appears pretty trivial. The other problem is that it's hard for them to differentiate good quality vs. bad quality (and rightly so) so they naturally just go for the least expensive and hope to get at least something going.
This is not really a criticism, I do the same when I look to paint my house or fix my car :)

I have worked with hundreds of indicators and robots for a period of nearly a decade. I have tested almost all possible indicators and strategies. By looking at the indicator I will know if it repaints or if it could be profitable (very unlikely). Of course, ultimately it has to be backtested.

By collaboration do you mean the programmer does all of the work and you "supply" the strategy?

Just noticed fan27 post. Had the same question.

If you have working strategy that you are sure can be automated, it's simply paying someone to code it. If you are not sure the strategy can be coded, then it's a proof of concept and you still need to pay someone to code it(or at least get an estimate on the amount of work involved). Is this intra-day/session only strategy that requires no historical data to run?

  10. To my mind, any experienced and qualified programmer would work for free or for expectations of future profits. If he is a specialist, he could sell his services - thus, his money has certain value expressed in money, and if he is not a specialist it would be better to avoid using his services. That is why it would be better to find someone who will make it for reasonable payment, and who specializes in tasks like this.
If you are still looking for a programmer, I can provide you with a contacts of 4xdev - a group of programmers specializing in projects like this. I had several engagements with them so I`m confident in a quality of services they offer. If it is sitll relevant for you, PM me and I`ll help you to contact them.
