Very interesting. I've read that Envision claims "10,000 hours" expected life. ViewSonic claims "50,000 hours" on their newer ones. I've read lots of post about LCD's crapping out after 2-3 years... that's 5000-7500 hours, presuming 10hrs/day. Contrast that to CRTs... I ran an NEC 5FG, 17", which cost $1500 way back when, about 20,000 hours before it pooped out. If you get 20,000 hours out of a $250 19" CRT now days.... These incongruous facts make $54 to extend the warranty to 6 years seem like a good deal, no? Especially on the 18 &19" models.
Dell is having a sale on monitors this weekend, !5% off on dell upgrades. I just bought a 19 inch flat panel for 764 total. Dell brandname but made by Samsung. Also, Comp usa and Best Buy have Samsung 191T for 899. Just a heads up for anyone interested.
Only in the dot pitch. Take a look: http://www.samsungelectronics.com/semiconductors/TFT_LCD/Monitors/LTM181E4/ltm181e4.htm http://www.samsungelectronics.com/semiconductors/TFT_LCD/Monitors/LTM190E1/ltm190e1.htm However, take a look at this 19" - I have never seen it: http://www.samsungelectronics.com/semiconductors/TFT_LCD/Monitors/LTM190U1/ltm190u1.htm Notice that the last one is 1600x1200 - and the pixel dot pitch is greater than that of the 18"!! Also look at the CCFL of all three. nitro
I'm about to buy a new 17"TFT monitor and I've come to EIZO L565 and SONY SDM X-72 It's my first and I have some questions: 1)the viewing angle in the EIZO model is 170x170 and the SONY 160x160 Is there a significant difference in this? What more can 10 degrees give you? 2)I'll be using for multimedia purposes too,(gaming, movie watching) The response times are 40ms for EIZO and 30ms for SONY.Isn't the sony model better? If your run it in a resolution lower than the native one, let's say from 1280x1024 to 1024x768, for playing a game will it be comparable to a CRT? 3)I'll be reading texts for many hours are these monitors good for it? I thought of the EIZO L365 but the low resolution 1024x768max. seems constraining.Whould it be better for multimedia use compared to the previous 17"incers"?
