genuinely curious, is the /es dom not a spoof fest?! after reading about Nav and the flashcrash, as well as listening to Christina Qi talk about her HFT firm, it seems like orderbook is not very valid, and not as consistent as it is made out to be. I also know jigsaw is all the rage right now, but i usually only hear that from ppl selling me something....
no way man!! i like mike bellafiore a lot, just from interviews ive heard. he seems level headed and isn't trying to get you PHAT GAINZ from BUYIN HAWT DIPZ ON EURUSD!!! i want to check out his one good trade book. heard its solid for psych/risk management. i will look into that. ive watched a few of their trading videos online. the options stuff is great. thank you!
i don't know him. is he in DFW? i don't know a ton of the older generations of cats, but i know a few. its really just an arbitrary number. i'll take whatever the market gives honestly! ha. if its -$500, so be it.
its really more to say thank you and not take something without giving something in return. if you have alternative that would work better for you, i'm open to hearing it.
before i get sucked into another hour of responding, id like to give a silent shout out to the trader who was willing to get on the phone with me this morning to talk about mack's pat system, and how he uses it/modifies it. thank you for sympathizing with my dilemma and offering your guidance! its also nice to just not trade alone some times, and to bounce ideas off of ppl. haha. i'm glad you got the gist of what i was asking for. and another genuine thank you to those of you who have offered advice here. i appreciate it! gotta go fix a toilet in a rental property... currently down $200~ on the day! sucking less tho, and sticking to my plan a bit better. missed some stops into some runners that wouldve turned it around.
thank you! a 5 sharpe would be insane. lol. if i could hit a 2 i'd die a proud man... a little easier now that the risk free rate is negative! lol.
No problem. I traded on the same desk with them, 1999-2002, period, at the 57th & Lex office in NYC. They are solid guys. Weird thing is that I had a mental image of all of that crew, frozen in my mind, from that exact time period. So it was truly something to see them in 2015, as we had all gotten older, less hair, etc. Truly cool, what they built. Wish I had had that when we all started. We were just thrown there, and learned by osmosis!!! 1998-2001 was a special period. We were all young, and before 9/11; NYC was the place to be...
I've no idea where he is right now, his email doesn't work and I lost his phone number. I'm sending you a message with his email, maybe one of your friends recognizes it. If daily profits aren't a big deal, then go for swing and longer term. Much easier and on 2-3 trades a year you get to hit it out of the stadium.
