does anyone use bloomberg terminal? is there any advantage in terms of major news release? what about price quotation?
I've been at it full time since 1981. I began trading with an IBM PC one of the first, a 300 baud modem, and Dial Data, Merrill Lynch Account while in college working on my economics and accounting degrees. There was no internet, no anything, no online trading or discount brokers, I traded with a broker at Merrill. I began using the pc for technical analysis and began studying price movement and T/A. I was using Greg Morris's TA software, spent close to $2000 for it. Did less than you have at your finger tips for free today. Dial data was what was used by brokerages, it provided high low open close data to brokerages. It took all night to download just HLOC for a few dozen stocks. Commisions were a few hundred dollars for a 100 shares. I'm still at it, still here. Now any and every smuck can open a discount brokerage account and easily trade. Very good for me.... we need fodder for the cannons. Happy Trades!
Thoughts @Baron ? Was just trying to prove a point: Maybe all these dead threads (about the same subject) might be of interest for some.
Sure, we could disallow further replies after some time of inactivity but I think it's not optimal to have multiple threads about the same idea.
Can't say I agree. Things change over time (albeit slowly) so I'd rather see a broader (rather than deeper) tree of comments. Ancient threads can always be linked back to if it makes sense. That way the conversation keeps flowing in a more continuous manner.
