I started trading in college when I was 18 as well not knowing anything. First stock trade I was up 605% with my $2000 Etrade account. Beginners luck for sure! but I did pocket a few grand and spend it on as much trading education as possible (Books, DVD's and live seminars) which is crucial for success. You will have to find out what type of trader you want to be? there are many styles and trading vehicles to choose from and you will truly enjoy and excel at the ones that fit your mentality. I have traded stocks for years, then got into options and covered calls, then day trading. I have been around the block and now I have found and created my trading strategy which fits my life style, personality and income requirements perfectly. If you want anymore help send me an email.
kind of presumptuous to want to master the trading markets and start here.... high school, maybe (for a start) college, maybe Peace Core, maybe Community volunteering, maybe Social Causes (read faith based initiatives), maybe trading, no!
 monty21, you are correct, so many people have replied, no answer from Joe? But, we did learn a lot.
Cause anyone with a brain knows that he is a sad loser who lives out his hopeless dreams on ET. He has been exposed many times, it's a big joke.
I'm 21, I started my own company when i was 18,bought and sold my first house when i was 19 built my first house on 35 acres when i was 20, lost it all at 20.5. You can do whatever you want. Most people on ET are looking for a handout. You wont get it. You have to work harder, and be smarter and do nothing else. Dont make my mistake. When you make a couple hundred thousand, know that its not shit and keep pushing hard as you can, otherwise you will see how fast a couple hundred K can disappear. And when you fail, you push harder. Here's how you will know if your on the right track: are you lonely? do your peers wonder why you never party with them? do you spend your weekends alone? do you feel alone? The answer to these questions have to be yes. If not, you arent pushing hard enough. 99% of people can't take it. I would think long and hard about what you want and what you're willing to sacrifice to get it. If you are then welcome to my world, but like I said, think about it.
Not to be contrarian to the guys who feel they have to have money before they think women will talk to them, but in all honesty I would say focus on 2 things. Your professional development and your personal development. The trick is to develop them at the same time. The right woman and the right career, both true to what you feel they should be can do wonders. You can find a woman and not be rich yet. Find the right kind of woman, and she will grow with you both emotionally and financially. Your young though, you don't need to focus on it yet, but its something to keep in mind. Treat women as objects, and you will attract the kind that treat you as an object back and will take you for all your worth in the end. Be true to your self and what you want out of life and a partner, and you will be ok. As far as trading, I would start by reading "Reminisces of a stock operator".
