Both of which promote, protect and continue to ensure your freedom. Your welcome. That's the beauty of this country. It can provide so much to someone like you - who isn't even capable of understanding all that you have right in front of you or how it came to be.
Pretty sure he promised the opposite when he ran 2008, or am I mistaken? It's the silence from the left that is troubling regarding this issue.
Really? Have you even been to an airport in the last 20 years? Have you heard of the Patriot Act? Are you a gun owner? Have you noticed passports are needed to visit neighboring countries now? Especially if you expect to be able to return to the U.S. Have you heard that Obama now has the right to kill Americans without due process? Need I continue?
If they are going to publish the names and addresses of registered gun owners then I suspect many people will not continue to register their firearms. It is very easy to simply purchase firearms from private parties for cash leaving no paper trail. Once they started violating the privacy of gun owners they made the decision for a lot of people.
The odds of situation you described are quite small. Vast majority of criminals will flee at first sign of danger, they are there for the money and are not ready being shot. Plus, in the situation you described a hand gun would be more effective. It is quite obvious that in a gun fight everyone wishes for more bullets. We as society need to find a right balance between freedom and safety.
Quite frankly that's a decision that should be made on a personal level not one imposed by a govt entity. The man who tries to insure himself against all possible losses, will not only find himself destitute , it would only take a black spotted duckling to do him in. At the heart of collectivism is a philosophy of greed and it's unstated reason is to provide safety from all things to all people.
"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759 Truth be told Red you're arguing with the wrong crowd. It's the anti 2nd amendment guys futurecurrents and Ishopatpublix that want to ban your 9mm. If I were you I'd be more worried about them and their ilk than us.

I see your point, and anyone who opposes 2nd amendment, can just gnash their teeth as it is not going away ever. The more I think about the issue, the more I realize that the ban of semi automatic rifles will not work at all, as not all of them will be prohibited. The best odds then are mandatory back ground checks for every purchase, and some limits on household with felons and mentally ill.
