That seems to sum it up pretty well. I heard on the radio just a couple days ago we're STILL holding prisoners without due process. Despite Obama blasting Bush for doing the same thing during his 08' campaign of lies.
Obama is very good at telling people what they want to hear instead of what is good for the country. Democraps are full steam ahead playing one group against another with false promises or promises that will destroy the U.S.
Unfortunately that's exactly what happens. Bad guys murder people, and they often do it randomly. You never know if you are going to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. For instance, in the great city of Chicago which has about the toughest gun control laws in the country there were 513 murders in 2012, the majority from guns. Along with thousands of folks shot and injured who didn't die. Of course you needn't have a fire extinguisher in your kitchen because the odds are ridiculously against you having a kitchen fire that kills you (or some might suggest the fire randomly murders you). In fact, much less chance of that then being murdered while visiting Chicago. But these things happen in Chicago and pretty much all cities and towns across the country so some take precautions even knowing the odds are against it. Like having a fire extinguisher in your kitchen doesn't mean you're paranoid, just means you're better prepared for that very unlikely event.
"My Administration is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government." - President Barack Obama, January 2008 Two years later⦠March 2010. "The Democratic administration of Barack Obama, who denounced his predecessor, George W. Bush, as the most secretive in history, is now denying more Freedom of Information Act requests than the Republican did." http://articles.latimes.com/2010/mar/21/nation/la-na-ticket21-2010mar21 ---------------------------------------------------------- http://articles.latimes.com/2011/oct/31/opinion/la-ed-secrets-20111031 One of the most disappointing attributes of the Obama administration has been its proclivity for secrecy. The president who committed himself to "an unprecedented level of openness in government" has followed the example of his predecessor by invoking the "state secrets" privilege to derail litigation about government misdeeds in the war on terror. He has refused to release the administration's secret interpretation of the Patriot Act, which two senators have described as alarming. He has blocked the dissemination of photographs documenting the abuse of prisoners by U.S. service members. And now his Justice Department has proposed to allow government agencies to lie about the existence of documents being sought under the Freedom of Information Act, or FOIA. At present, if the government doesn't want to admit the existence of a document it believes to be exempt from FOIA, it may advise the person making the request that it can neither confirm nor deny the document's existence. Under the proposed regulation, an agency that withholds a document "will respond to the request as if the excluded records did not exist." This policy is outrageous. It provides a license for the government to lie to its own people and makes a mockery of FOIA. It also would mislead citizens who might file an appeal if they knew there was a possibility that the document they sought was in the possession of a government agency. Such an appeal would allow a court to determine whether the requested document was covered by an exemption in FOIA.
Then why are personal freedoms in continual decline? While Government power continues to grow? Your example is true in some cases. But not all. Or most, even.
What personal freedoms are in decline? There's TALK on nearly every channel of all the evil things that may happen, but what have we actually lost in the last 20-30 years in the way of personal freedom?
...and doing renditions in foreign countries (front page of Wash post the other day), and doing more warrantless wiretaps than ever...and the FISA courts are even busier than when Bush was Prez. Gitmo is running strong today. When the GOP is in charge, all the liberals love to throw all this "civil rights violation" stuff out there and just beat it to death. When Obama renews and increases the programs, there is silence.
Sorry. Wait a second. Two posts ago you asked me what freedoms are in decline? And your very next post, you admit warrant-less spying and rendition are going strong. You're not right in the head. I get it.
