No, we need to amend the immigration laws so that they do no have an automatic right to entry just by declaring asylum. They should only be able to apply at lawful points of entry or consulates. Then we will notify them when their hearing will be and they will be allowed entry for that hearing.
Not a bad start. Taking employers to task is important, more people to speed up the processing would be nice too. We still need to beef up border security to stop the actual criminals which are greater in number than many people like to admit. We'll see what happens but I doubt anything of substance comes about in the near future. 2020 campaign season is right around the corner and they all want the issue.
I’m sure this will be an orderly process, not. We should be aiming for a 3 week turnaround on all asylum cases.
We can certainly put more sensors and drones at the border but it’s all about stopping employers from circumventing the law.
This is such a stupid statement because deportations are down under Trump and republicans holding both the senate and the House.
Police Arrest 7 For Helping Illegal Alien Cop-Killer, All 7 Are Illegal Aliens https://www.dailywire.com/news/39791/police-arrest-7-helping-illegal-cop-killer-theyre-ryan-saavedra California law enforcement officials arrested seven additional suspects connected to alleged illegal alien cop-killer Gustavo Perez Arriaga last week — all of whom are purported illegal aliens — for allegedly helping him evade capture. "Police say, in all, seven people are in custody, accused of assisting the suspect in evading police, including two of Arriaga's brothers and his girlfriend," ABC News reported on Saturday night, according to NewsBusters. "Authorities telling ABC News, all of them -- as well as Arriaga -- in the U.S. illegally." (More at above url)
I see. So if the republicans failed to secure the borders- and to stop the mass influx- from visa overstays- not to worry- because your ilk has that as a goal and will get right on it, just like the last time they were in power. Got it.
So if we go after employers, how do we take care of the other 63% of illegals in the country? 63% of Non-Citizen Households Access Welfare Programs Among the findings: In 2014, 63 percent of households headed by a non-citizen reported that they used at least one welfare program, compared to 35 percent of native-headed households. Welfare use drops to 58 percent for non-citizen households and 30 percent for native households if cash payments from the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) are not counted as welfare. EITC recipients pay no federal income tax. Like other welfare, the EITC is a means-tested, anti-poverty program, but unlike other programs one has to work to receive it. Compared to native households, non-citizen households have much higher use of food programs (45 percent vs. 21 percent for natives) and Medicaid (50 percent vs. 23 percent for natives). Including the EITC, 31 percent of non-citizen-headed households receive cash welfare, compared to 19 percent of native households. If the EITC is not included, then cash receipt by non-citizen households is slightly lower than natives (6 percent vs. 8 percent).
No. The Obama administration did a good job with border crossings and prioritizing the deportation process so much so there was a negative in flow from the southern border. With progress made there vis overstays did become the emergent issue in illegal residency. Trump did not pick up on that. But, yes, like almost every other governmental issue you can count on democrats to clean up Republican failures and make progress on the issue.
