There's a story on Yahoo about this. They say the actual figure is 66%. So, I guess it's not so bad afterall. LOL

Man, you guys got some real little government thugs there in Illinois. How did it ever get that way??? Won't be moving there anytime soon.

90 Democrats - and No Republicans - Voted to Raise Your Taxes

In the remaining hours of the lame duck Illinois General Assembly last night and early this morning, ninety (90) Democratic State Legislators – and NO REPUBLICANS - voted for the largest tax increase in Illinois history, including a 67% income tax increase.

The tax hike now goes to Democratic Governor Pat Quinn, who, despite having promised in his recent campaign to veto any increase above 1%, will sign it into law.

    Speaker Michael J. Madigan

Wouldn't you guys in Illinois feel better if members of your legislature just broke into your house and stole a TV, a microwave oven, or a used computer or something? Or, maybe forced you to cut the grass at a state park?

I mean, they can call what they are doing a "tax", but either way, they're arbitrarily stealing from you / enslaving you.

  6. I believe, leaders should lead by example. Want to hike taxes. Take a pay cut first Gov, Pres, etc. Cut pay for public union workers, which is what has happened recently in the private sector. If they are so quick to spread the wealth they should be equally willing to accept the pain.

    LOL...Don't hold your breath.

I believe that it's like Ronald Reagan said: The people aren't taxed too little, the government spends too much.

I guess us Texans need to build a wall along our border with the other states. Maybe a Texas drivers license should be needed to get in. Stopped in Texas without one and you get deported back to your home state.

  9. They don't even do a proper job of deporting illegals from Mexico, not that any state, save AZ will ever.

But, with states like Illinois, California, New York, going rogue on its citizens, I'm starting to wonder which is the greater threat to the Union.   Illegals out of Mexico or some of these thugs in state legislatures?
