I admit I'm too lazy to look at each of these links. Can you just guide us to the one where the 10% figure pops up, and let us see if it's from a reliable source, not alex jones or equivalent. I would guess that the number of Canadians per capita coming to the U.S. for care is statistically equal to or less than the number of U.S. citizens going to Canada for care per capita, with both numbers adjusted for distance. That's the comparison I'd like to see. (Let us not lose sight of the fact that canada's population is concentrated relatively near the U.S. border, whereas this is not at all true of the United States.)

On the other hand I wouldn't be at all surprized to learn that 10% of canadians living within say x miles of the border have gone to the U.S. for care or an MRI or such. where X is a number less than 200. There are NMR outfits along the Canadian border on the U.S. side that specialize in this. They charge way less than the charge for an NMR deep in the U.S.
If someone is a skilled manipulator of public opinion there are all kinds of opportunities to mislead. And I would say traders are probably more gullible than average.

On the other hand what may matter is a comparison of Canadians crossing the border for treatment with the number of Americans crossing into canada for treatment, adjusted for population and distance. Then you'll have some useful information perhaps. I don't think you'll find that number.

What this country, the U.S.A., needs is better thinkers and a minimum 50% reduction in healthcare costs with quality and outcomes brought up to the standards of the other industrialized countries. . So next I'll hear from someone in the top few percent of the wealth distribution telling me how cutting edge and wonderful U.S. health care is. Well before you bite, talk to someone on the street in the U.S., and then , if you can find anyone on the street in Canada, talk to them.

  5. we have no 10% source from GWBtrading as expected. As the Fraiser institute (Koch) had to create its own annual estimates by surveying physicians then the government don't have numbers fair to say? They came up with a very specific number which looks authoritative unrounded but is a guessed estimate. Speaking of that, their numbers are worldwide. I am sure a lot of Canadians travel to Mexico for elective surgery, I am sure many cross to Buffalo but Canada has private MRI scanner services that are not too expensive.
Long and short, GWBtrading is a serial bullcrap salesman and nobody on the left, right or middle can be expected to take this guy seriously. everything he says needs to be checked carefully and he should have no voice in debate at all because of this but our side do not mind fools.

Speaking of, Carlson seems sexually attracted to AOC here by his standards.

He then aired a clip from Ocasio-Cortez’s town hall of her discussing the growing wealth disparity in the country.

In the clip, she stated, “We have run away income inequality. We are at one of our most inequal [sic] points, economically speaking, in American history. We are dealing with a crisis of how our economy is even made up. Our economy is increasingly financialized, which means we are making profits off of interest.”

“You hate to admit it, given the source, but try to ignore the way she said it, maybe just print it out and read it. A lot of it is basically true. Neither party wants to talk about this,” Carlson continued. “Any economy based on interest payments isn’t really an economy, it’s a scam. Healthy countries innovate. They make things. They don’t treat people like interchangeable widgets. They don’t worship finance.”

  6. Talking about misspeaking facts, this is crazy. I don't have a TV but a more TDS friend sends me President Trump groans. Well I sure thought it was just misspeaking saying father not grandfather. I had to eat crow on that tonight. I do believe the WP that he has said his father was german at least three times. I voted for him thinking it was an act, hoping it was an act.

And yet you make no mention at all of anyone who posts from the left. I wonder why this is?

No, I was talking about how people should point out idiots who are political figures elected to provide solutions but only provide bullshit. If we wanted to point out fools on the internet, we'd be here all day long doing so.

I posted this in a thread dedicated to that particular Carlson clip, and I noted (as he noted) that AOC's interpretation of the inequality was spot on. But that doesn't make up for all of the inconsistencies and blatant errors she spouts. Still, credit on a good idea where credit is due.

Let's first outline the assertion in full - 1 in 10 Canadians have come deliberately to the U.S. to medical or healthcare services. This includes major services such as heart transplants and minor services such as teeth whitening at a dental office. The Canadian healthcare system generally can only track major medical services where the system either referred the patient directly to the U.S. or the patient required follow-up care in Canada after a procedure in the United States. Canadians coming to the U.S. fall into two categories; first those referred from the Canadian healthcare system to U.S. facilities for care (for example the Duke Heart Surgery Center in Durham, NC sees a significant number of Canadians). Second are Canadians who come on their own and pay out-of-pocket which are much harder for the Canadian government to track.

Where does the 10% figure come from? It comes from surveys where Canadian residents were asked the question if they ever deliberately traveled to the U.S. for medical or healthcare services. over a number of years the Canadian federal government performed national surveys, the province of Ontario performed a survey, and media outlets such as the National Post performed a surveys which included question about those who left Canada for medical services.

Having worked in Toronto for several years; I say it was fairly common for people to drive to the U.S. for medical services. Need your teeth whitened at a Dentist; why wait three months -- make an appointment for next week in the U.S. and drive down. While you are in the U.S. you might as well do multiple chores including getting new tires on your car which are much cheaper in the U.S. than at Canadian Tire. (Just remember to scuff up the wheels and put dirt on them to make them look used before crossing the border back into Canada).

At this point I have provided several information sources that reference the information. Previously I have posted a significant number of sources that outline the information. Folks who want to be educated can read the links and learn. Those who desire to push their fact-free political agenda will obviously ignore the content of the links and post continuously I am liar while continuing to wallow in their deliberate ignorance.
