  1. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez falsely claims Republicans amended Constitution to kick FDR out of office

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., might want to brush up on some history after asserting, incorrectly, that Republicans in Congress amended the Constitution to kick President Franklin Delano Roosevelt out of office.

"They had to amend the Constitution of the United States to make sure Roosevelt did not get reelected," Ocasio-Cortez said Friday during a night hall event with MSNBC with Chris Hayes.

Ocasio-Cortez was referring to the 22nd Amendment of the Constitution which passed in 1947.

The text of the amendment states, “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.” FDR died in 1945, meaning he was dead for a full two years before presidential term limits were implemented.

This is not the first time Ocasio-Cortez has made factually dubious statements. For instance, in December of last year she claimed "Medicare for All" could be funded by $21 trillion in accounting errors by the Pentagon.

Oh, I guess legislation can't take two years to become ratified then.
  3. The bill was not even introduced until after he left office.
  4. We are lucky to have the 22nd amendment.

No one wants to see Biden do more than two terms.

  5. To be fair...90% of the people in that room believe what she said was correct and it was only after people googled it did they realize she was incorrect. I know if that statement was just posted here most of you would have accepted it as true if you did not look it up.

  7. 90% of people in the room must be idiots.

Anyone who took U.S. History in High School should know immediately AOC's assertion was false about the 22nd amendment.

To be fair, the bill was introduced as a response to FDRs multiple re-elections

  9. Yes it was. But it was introduced AFTER he was dead.

You can't do it, can you. You can't just say "yeah, it was a dumb statement." Have to support her and anyone else on "your side" no matter how stupid it makes you look, right? Death before dishonor.

You don't see those of us on the right backing stupid ass statements when we see them. Most of us go after the idiots as much as the other side.
