Believe it of not I wrote this up yesterday – I suppose I’ll post it now

TE apologies but I don’t like injustice

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I’m posting this for the newer traders who may be wondering about my friend in another thread…..

btw the below link is not his - but shows why his actions are valid

    http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showt...96&perpage=6&highlight=profanity&pagenumber=1

    First

He is my friend – I accept him as is

I don’t feel the need to defend him, or justify that which he does…

I do feel compelled to help out the newer folks where I can….

To that end I post the below……

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trading is a hard way to make a living…. Let me say that again – Trading is a hard way to make a living….

Many have killed themselves because trading exacted such a great toll (emotionally and financially) that they decided they could no longer cope

Many more have lost all – including the family they loved….

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trading demands we be one dimensional (once we find what works for us – we must do that same thing, the same way, day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year)

People are not inherently wired to be one dimensional

Trading demands we be totally disciplined and totally in control 100% of the time…

People are not inherently wired to be totally disciplined and totally in control 100% of the time…

Trading demands we set aside all emotion (want we want, feel, hope for, our ego, our self esteem – all of it… ) And do exactly what we must – exactly when we should….

People are not inherently wired to shut off their human side, nor ignore their thoughts/ feelings

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You want longevity in this profession – You want to be a mentally and physically healthy – You want to keep your family/ friends….

YOU better find a way to blow off steam….

YOU better find a way to feed your human side

YOU damn well better find a way to feed everything which must be placed aside and ignored while trading….

Otherwise all that must be set aside and ignored while trading – will build up and rear its head while you are trading…

It will take over your thoughts…

It will place loud voices in your head that you can not ignore…

It will take control of you and your actions…

It will make you trade recklessly…

    It will make you fail…

You could very well end up tuning into a person your family abandons….

Hell who knows – you may even end up taking your own life…

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No I’ve no need to defend my friend – for as with all things – everything happens for a reason (dare I say – even in the market)

He has his way…. I have mine…., best you find your own if you want to endure…

  2. TE,

Could you offer some insight as to what the boxes and diagonal lines are on this chart? I can't figure out the logic behind them.

  3. My guess is that the boxes represent range, notice how they expand and contract again. TE will throw a hissy fit at this, but that is a repeating cycle that is prevalent in price action.

Notice also the two horizontals and how price breaks through support, pulls back in and then later breaks through resistance and then pulls back in.

Nooooooooooooo...... more like Shamma stood on a land mine.

Shamma (and his previous incarnations) was a trouble maker (making personal attacks on a certain JH), he is no more and his latest reincarnation did not last very long either before the mods removed all his posts. No doubt he'll pop up again though.

If you wish to communicate with TE then the F word thread is an excellent place to receive enlightenment.

    On this I agree 100%.

Reading the F word thread will certainly enlighten anyone who gives any credence to the credibility of TE.

I’m sure he feels better now that he has that off his chest, but you have to wonder how he would handle emotions while in a trade? Of course if he doesn’t trade there is no problem.:D

  7. Hi RN,

Very well said, there is a lot of truth in what you say. Ive always enjoyed your posts. As for TE, I don't know him, but his posts have helped me come to some very valuable realizations for which I am very grateful. I must disagree with you on one point though. Trading does not need to be made any harder than it already is. There is always talk about needing to be disciplined, or people working on their disciple. Nonsense. You are either disciplined or you are not. It starts with honesty. If you can look yourself in the mirror and say with 100% unfaltering honesty that you will never ever expose your family, yourself, and your trading capital to excessive risk and hardship, then you may actually have a chance at succeeding at this game. If you have the slightest hesitation or tiniest doubt in your mind, you need to stop trading immediately and ask yourself if you are willing to put in the effort to succeed. Some might realize the game is no longer for them as a result of this way of thinking. There is nothing wrong with that. That kind of honesty will most likely lead them to success in some other field. Others might try to trade this way for a while before going back to their old habits because the excitement just isnt there or their "edge" suddenly dried up. They get what they deserve. But staying disciplined doesnt have to be some incredible obstacle to overcome. I like to think of it as the following little game:

Imagine you are taking part in an experiment where you are forced to make a choice. In front of you there are two large cages. In the first cage is a stuffed toy bear, like the kind you might win at a carnival. Its about the size of a pillow, fluffy, and smiling at you. In the other cage is a starving grizzly bear. Its 8ft tall and weighs 1000 lbs. Its throwing itself against its cage trying to get at you in a savage frenzy. Its only intention is to rip you limb from limb and squish your head like a soggy grapefruit. It knows no mercy, and it smells your fear. Your choice is to now go into one of the cages and pet one of the bears on the head. Which do you choose? What are the results after 100 tries? 1000? 10000 tries? Do you really need to be "disciplined" or "stay in control" at all times, or do you simply not go into the cage with the wild animal that wants to chew off your face?

    Just a thought...

  8. Hmm, I don't think that your analogy is very apt, in trading it's the cute looking fluffy toy bear that has the potential to take your head off if you allow it.

I think discipline is something that is a learned behaviour, as with so much in trading the social conditioning you receive throughout life leaves you totally unprepared for the mental challenges you face in the markets, your job is to break that conditioning and rebuild your belief system.

I assume you are speaking about TE and the F word thread. It seemed a good idea really to have such a no holds barred free for all thread, where the mods keep away, as place where the idiots and troublemakers could be directed to and shredded, the ones who pollute the regular threads with personal attacks or anything else that is stupid. Unfortunately there are too many who seem to make a career out of posting nonsense. Its interesting that no one has taken the challenge except the supreme idiot Shamma who ended up being banned and all posts removed. Lets hope the mods don't take exception to TE.

  10. As I said when I started the thread, the mods could move it where they liked but not to delete it, as it serves a very useful purpose, and that is, to show what type of idiots you are trading against each and every day:eek:

You see, it really is a hard game to master, and when I say master, I mean to make GOOD money each and every day. You have to become one emotionless fuker:D with no misconceptions about how good you are, what you know now, what you have just done, and what you will do next. NO ONE GIVES A SHIT ABOUT YOU, full stop, so you must not give a shit about anyone else, for, you are out to accomplish one thing, and one thing only, and that is to make GOOD money each and every day.

When you lose more than you had intended on a trade, you must look at yourself in the mirror, and say, YOU STUPID FUKIN IDIOT, what the fuk did you do that for, if you are not careful you will become like the shithead shamma,:D or the deaddog fool:p

Ok then, enough of the "F" word for this thread, as NY might give me a telling off:D
