Its value rests on NOTHING. It is backed by NOTHING but greater fools, religious or otherwise. It may rise, but it's still an illusory asset. That it still exists rests on mass illusion. Just my opinion, of course.
I will stop calling it religious the day I can do something cheaper/faster/more efficient with BTC than I can with conventional currency. Crypto has often been compared to the internet revolution. At his point of the internet revolution (same number of years since introduction), the internet delivered services and goods cheaper/faster/more efficient in a multitude of different areas.
it's backed by a shit ton of spent energy. It's like stored energy you can't use/recover except in money form.
Wasted energy? Lots and lots of it? I'm not up on these thing, so correct me if I'm wrong. But I read somewhere that, while crypto cannot exist without blockchain, blockchain can exist without crypto.
well this weekend I moved 50k worth of bitcoin on a Sunday. It settled in 10 minutes and it cost me less than $1 and that’s doing the transaction on the base layer. If I would of down or via lightning, with would be been a few cents. Does this count?
