Rabbit, you are of course right!

I was wrong, totally, and you have shown me up for what I really am.

It is I who has been the idiot, not anyone else, and now it is out in the open maybe I should ask a question!

What if, and this might come as a big shock to many, but not too a few, what if I said that, not only am I not trading, but I have "never ever traded in my life"!

  3. Nysestocks,

It is and has never been my intention to be right. Being right is not a solid objective for any business person or trader. The process of being right is an emotional attachment to decisions that can lead to poor judgment (that is on my part).

For me, at this point, to call you an idiot would make me a hypocrite. It is the very thing I railed against using on any trader on an ET forum. Stepping above the use of stereotypical tags for one another can lead to synergy that takes us as traders to new levels in communication. That is the objective.

Passing judgment on you or what you have been as a trader serves no useful purpose. Whether you trade like Jessie Livermore with $100 million dollar year income or have “never traded in your life” is not material.

Forums are level playing fields. Each trader on these forums can make a solid contribution toward making other traders productive regardless of their trading skill set or trading prowess. Without this banter each day many of us trap ourselves to our false convictions. And for others it is a place to gather “seeds” to grow their next trading garden.

You should not understate your accomplishment. Re aligning gray matter takes all of us a life time. There are too few in life that lay down a challenge to expand the use of our brains.

ET for me is a window to bounce my convictions off other traders so that they may be improved with new insights. Learning trading is learning to change. If we can’t change the facts we must bend our attitudes.

I suggest nothing milktruck, and as I called you an asshole I should apologize to you also.

Emotions, and not the silly stuff all the 'experts" write about, can make or break you, depending on your mental attitude!

I am mad, that I know, but I also know that I know "absolutely" nothing about anything!

Of course you must play to win, no other way, but like the "path", there is a big difference between knowing when you are ready, and being "actually" ready!

Are you now starting to see how mad I really am:D

I can't argue there Rabbit, but I also do, as others must also do, what is best for me, and what is best for me, is to "think" that the majority of so called "professional" traders are indeed idiots, and maybe not in the literally sense, but in the trading cents - could not resist that one:D

Anyway, good words, and many will do well to read and understand - maybe I am a bit "loud" at times, but I am mad, and I do admit it, many don't you know:eek:

    Rabbitone,

You post some of the best and most thoughtful posts on automated trading on ET. Please don't get too frustrated/confused by the OP -- that would fulfill his/her objective, as this is a "troll" thread! (Although in this case, you seem to have generated a sympathetic response from the troll himself, something I've never seen!)

(Trolling is a popular pastime on ET in which a particular type of ET member, referred to as a "troll", posts totally meaningless/trivial/offensive/outrageous statements/polls/threads with the hope of confusing other ET'ers, angering them pointlessly, or just tricking the ET community into thinking that he/she is in some real situation/predicament that requires their sincere/heartfelt advice.

The cause of trolling is often postulated as failing to succeed at trading, although my personal belief is that it has far more to do with simple boredom and the lack of appropriate outlet for it. For that matter, perhaps the same reason I wrote this rambling post. :D)

I am happy to see that, so far, we have 82.5% willing to open their eyes, and 17.5% prepared to keep them shut:)

Many say that using a "black box" removes the emotions associated with trading - whereas, a small few say that using a see "thru box" keeps you in tune with the market, and when you are in tune, the music is much better:D

    Have a nice day!

  9. Euler,

Thank you for your kind words about my posts. Here are just a few thoughts on your comments.

Subjectivity and ego rule forums for trading. We lay bear our trading souls and they are more often than not trampled. Depending on the beating our objectivity may be lost. At that point we revert to the emotional level that is supposed to be under control at all times as a trader. And the more you know as trader the harder it is “to suffer the slings and arrows” from other traders especially the more energetic the reply to our contribution.

For some traders ET is their life-line to the world. They are the followers. At the slightest hint their presence is not needed they wince and draw up in to an embryonic state. These traders are often verbally abused beyond reproach. For some ET traders trying to assert their leadership they will often use any device at their disposal to keep followers in-line. These are the leaders. Between the two on ET it is often more of a war zone of ideas than an environment of trading synergy.

This type of climate makes it difficult for any traders to communicate legitimate content. Tactics and devices become the norm. Snipes, trolls, shills and a host of other characters prod and cajole contributors from all angles to gain a peek at their knowledge base.

I have no permanent attachment to ET. I trade on my own and it supports me. I am well grounded in my mind, life, business, family and friends. You have to be this way. You must be prepared to stop your ET posting at the drop of a hat. Only those you meet face to face in your life, who look you dead in the eye, shake your hand, break bread with you should gain your respect to be worthy of your life long attention. Some may gain this status for you and I on ET. But it will be a precious few.

Posting here reminds me of the jungles of Nam. Hot and steaming every minute. You never left your back open long or you can pay dearly. You either responded in kind or had your throat slit by some poor bastard trying to stay alive just like you. Sounds cruel some say. But words strike far harder than many bullets at what can’t be repaired – our pride and ego. So I contribute fully prepared expecting any outcome. But even in this jungle we should strive to be amicable and polite when we regain composure and objectivity. That is when knowledge shall be gained.
