if one has $400,000 how much can you make

  1. Trading the ES with very low leverage and minimal drawdowns.....10% a month minimum is right on target.

may be I am not getting the point -
what makes you so sure that OIL will
definitively be going up shorter term or in the long run?

    Something else:
    >>Trading the ES with very low leverage and minimal drawdowns ....10% a month minimum is right on target<<

    How is that being done?

May be it's not my day however, if you
were not kidding let me/us know.

    Thanks

  3. What would you respond to a person who asked you "I have 400k, how much can I make playing no-limit poker if I just go all-in on Aces and Kings and fold the rest?"

That's pretty much the analogy. :)

  4. 5Pillars is a certified crackpot.

He believes and promotes every conspiracy theory out there on ET...
So he clearly does not have a grasp of Basic Logic...
Which is the absolute minimum starting prerequisite for a successful trading career.

  5. Reversing the question is a great device.

    >>
    I'm a trader who made 400K in 3 years.
How do I switch to trading and duplicate my success?
    >>

    Actually...
It's a lot harder going from poker to trading...
Then going from trading to poker.

About 18 months ago I set out to learn how to beat online poker...
Mostly by studying the posts on 2+2 Forums...
And it only took me about 3-4 months...
Because ALL the information is there at 2+2 if you can weed it out.

The best way to beat online poker 18 months ago WAS...
    Play 30-40 mid-level SNGs/day like the 33s at Party...
    Using a good PUSH strategy...
And the Independent Chip Model for bubble and end play...
And your end play is 90% of the ball game...

It would probably take 6-12 months to become really good at this...
ONLY IF you have natural talent...
And 100K/year WAS not unusual to make.

    The problem with stock trading...
Is that there is near ZERO useful information here at ET...
    Because NOBODY that is successful...
Talks about how they are doing it.

All of the people that are talking specifics... like all that TA nonsense...
Are noobs or losers or liars or degenerate gamblers...
Or, very commonly, people trying to get their hand into your pocket.

  6. So how would you allocate the OP's 400k now? Also, we need to know if the 400k is the OP's net worth or just his risk capital? Will you continue to size to the 400k as gambling bankroll and need part of it in liquid assets?

I'd say for starters to take 20k or less of it and use that as your trading tuition as you learn. Leave the rest in a money market or bond fund. Once you're consistently making money you can size your trades t the full 400k.

Traveler, looks like we are on the same page.

I was going to suggest taking 10k to learn how to trade and put the rest in Munis and Tips.

    - not very sexy, but that's how I roll...
