I trade around three patterns of market behavior, each occurring at what one would likely call a "test." For the purpose of this little project of mine I am using a moving average system to signal entries, and then I exit if one of these three patterns manifests itself. For example, today the entry was signaled by the moving average system, the exit (which, as it happens, was one tick off the low of the session I trade) was prompted by price action that indicated a market turn was immanent.

And as someone else sagely reminded us in a post elsewhere at ET today, "nothing is 100%."

  3. Cool.
I went back to a moving average type system for the last few months. First time in about 6 years! Went full circle and back to step one, lol.
Still couldn't get it to work for me though, unfortunately. Lost a fair few K on the dax, but it is a fairly choppy market in my eyes, so maybe not a good idea.
I imagine i'll go through everything i've Already tried gain over the next 6 years or so (since i'm FRESH out of new ideas now!) but hopefully in that time i'll find a way to improve on the success I had with each tool the first time around!
    regards.

One thing I might have been more clear about is that the moving average system as I use it signals a potential entry, but, for me, price action itself generates the entry. The moving average system alerted me to a potential short entry this morning, but price action itself signaled, triggered, generated, caused the actual entry to be taken. TA is potential energy, price is kinetic.

For this little project of mine in October, I scratched out a little over $700 net of fees, commissions, and other costs, i.e. platform, data. So I'll round it down to $700 and look to build on that through November.
