  3. America NEEDS to charge more fuel tax.. to repair roads and infrastructure. We've got LOTS of bridges in deplorable condition and little is being done about it. Unfortunately, many unethical politicians use locally collected fuel tax to spend on other self-serving projects.

  4. More fuel taxes??? already at $0.50 / gallon.
Cigarette taxes are $3 a pack
    Bottled water tax is $.25
    Beer Tax $0.77 per gallon

American's are already are being taxed near 50% on each $ spent.

Lets take 25% for Federal income taxes, 5% for state and sales tax of 10%.

    $100 gross = $70 net after federal & state

Buy 10 gallons of gas for $50 with $5 in fuel taxes & $5 sales tax
Buy 2 packs of cigarettes for $10 ($6 in Cig taxes & $1 sales tax)
Buy 2 bottles of water for $3 ($.50 in Bottled Water tax)
6 Pack of Beer for $7 ($0.70 sales tax, $0.30 beer tax)

    $18.50 in additional tax rapeage.

$100 you earned bought $52.50 worth of goods and generated $47.50 in taxes.

  5. I could describe a scenario where $100 income generated >$80 total tax. Wouldn't apply to many, but still.

  6. Sure.. you can make and save @ 15% too. The point i am trying to present is focused on the cost of spending $ and the plethora of taxes paid from individual post tax dollars. Corps are provided the benefit of deducting costs from pre-tax $ and the ability to carry losses forward.

Just look at sales tax paid by an individual versus a business assuming the purchase is tax deductible.

10% sales tax = approx 12.5% pre tax dollars for individuals versus 10% pre-tax for corps.

I've always believed that all taxes paid of any kind should be deductible without restrictions. IRS has 2% rules disallowing deductions for most.

  7. thanks for taking the time to reasonably demonstrate your point,

too often comments, that should either be believed but are never substantiated are made, and people / traders wonder why these threads are call nothing but B&M sessions....

often times one wonders just how much the middle class and poor of this nation will be trampled on by those in positions of control or influence and still remain docile to the extent that present police and other forces can contain them....

often times one wonders just how much abuse the system can throw out on common people and they not get cynical or politically active in an unpredictable manner, as with the "throw the bums out campaigns"

often times one wonders just how many dividends paid and earnings guidance meetings and quarterly profit squeezes can occur with every increase in the price of HO (heating oil), or FO (fuel oil, gas, diesel, airplane fuel, etc.)

often times one wonders just how and to what extent the hedge funds and their political contributions to all representatives shield them from prosecution for their direct complicity in rigging consumer prices beyond the normal and natural boundaries that any rationale economic discussion would allow....

    often times....

try 87octane at $.79 or $1.79 instead of all these inflated prices

  9. Strategy Session CNBC, Tues, 12noon, Apr 25th, Mark Fischer comments

.. oil speculation is beyond the shores of the US and can't be reigned in

.. strong USD policy change would not appreciably affect (before the fact), nor effect (after the fact) the price of oil

.. we're held hostage to global demand being driven by China's voracious appetite for crude oil

.. we're held hostage and there's nothing that can be done to influence the price gasoline

.. attacking the hedge funds and other investors and so called speculators, would not appreciably affect the pricing of the barrel crude in world markets

(not all his comments, not all his words, rough summary from the conversation and significant overtalk done by the four participants)

    imagine that,

    nothing that can be done.

Dollar falling again today, gold/silver surging!!!!

Oil at $113 and looks to be moving even higher....

Just to let you know Bubble ben bernanke and geithner are NOT for a stronger dollar, they are lying when they say that, if they were you would have seen some drastic changes in todays meeting, they would have actually done something to show that they mean business when it came to a stronger dollar......looks like the dollar is going to break lower while oil continues to rally, $5.00 gas is here and at the rate things are moving $6.00 might be here by end of 2011.....
