Lower taxes is always good. Who wants to pay more taxes? But - it is bogus to say lowering taxes will "stimulate jobs and the economy" to any great degree unless they finish the WHOLE sentence. "Lowering taxes will stimulate jobs and the economy - IN CHINA AND INDIA. Because that's where we moved those jobs."
100% correct! Tax breaks are virtually irrelevant in regard to hiring. Technology and slave wages abroad have taken their toll on the American worker. The jobs that are gone are gone forever, and without some new sector of employment coming around the bend I'd say we best get use to 10% or better unemployment.
A shortage of skilled workers is hurting: "A May survey by staffing firm Manpower Inc. found Cox's situation is not unusual: 52 percent of American companies surveyed said they had difficulty finding people qualified enough to work mission-critical jobs â an all-time survey high. Companies reported that skilled trade, sales representative and engineering positions were the most challenging jobs to fill. we have no production capacity, over 50% of population in us were farmers only 50 yrs agao, now they are 1% ONLY.
I see it near where I live (TX). Welders and drivers with a CDL/Hazardous can pull in a nice wage and essentially get hired on the spot. Not H1Br's. Engineers are another story esp. in you have a Petroleum degree where you can pull $180K per year easily. Seneca

Good thread with intelligent nonpolitical replies. Curious on the people who voted this thread one star, explain the logic if any.
There are good points here but many miss the point. You will not get consumer spending if people don't have jobs. What tax cuts and better regulations do is make job creation easier. Even with low taxes, job creation is very, very hard because entrepreneurship is hard. I had a business before trading and I have to tell you there's a lot of cr*p you have to go through just to be profitable. It is like the chicken and the egg, but I think we've found out that just dumping money into the system doesn't work as well. Many don't like tax cuts because it helps the wealthy. True which is good because the wealthy are better at allocating capital than the government. They either spend it themselves or use it for investments that spur growth. There's a reason why the high tax states in the US are contracting while the sun belt is booming. It's been that way for a very long time.
