correct, it's based on the IE core or whatever, you can stay with IE6, just make sure you keep installing security updates (Windows Update). i tried ie7 and found it to be such pos that i downgraded back to ie6. that's when someone on the board recommended avant and i checked it out.. never looked back.
Happy you liked it 50c ... I dropped IE7 pretty quickly too. But now that Firefox 2 has removed my criticisms of FF1.5 and I've found out how to set up firefox to be faster than Avant I've moved Avant to browser 2. If someone does try FF I recommend the following add ons: Adblock Plus (very clean advert removal) TinyMenu Download Statusbar DownloadThemAll (multiple downloads and reconstructs the file) Favicon Picker and maybe NoScript Remove It Permenantly FireFTP Also apply the speed and memory improvements recommended by lilboy716: http://element14.wordpress.com/2006...mory-bug-but-heres-how-you-improve-mem-usage/ http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=354828 Note the minimal toolbars for those who don't like clutter.
try download camino--mozilla; it's the fastest browser i tried so far and i use it as default now...very happy, much quicker than safari and there's a windows version as well.
