I didn't find the topic objectionable (despite the statement below) except maybe disagreements of status quo & parlance; waste of energy to be protested IMO but their right. Shame since he seems like an ally (link to signatories below) Shame about Islamophobic professor putting his hands on students.

The San Francisco Bay Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-SFBA), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed the reported news that San Jose State University (SJSU) Professor Jonathan Roth, who allegedly assaulted a student protester during a campus event, has been placed on administrative leave.

The incident occurred as SJSU students protested an event featuring known-Zionist Professor Jeffrey Blutinger, California State University, Long Beach, Jewish Studies chair and History professor who has made past statements justifying the ongoing genocide in Gaza. During the protest, Roth—who has reportedly been the subject of multiple student complaints over many years—grabbed and twisted the arm of a Palestinian student who placed her hand in front of his cell phone camera. Such an action is not only inexcusable but also a violation of the rights and safety of students.

This event and the subsequent assault took place despite prior calls from SJSU students and community members to postpone the event, citing concerns over the promotion of views that marginalize the Palestinian experience and ignore the ongoing realities of the genocide in Gaza that has killed nearly 30,000 people and the unchecked settler violence against Palestinians in the West Bank.

In a statement, SJSU Professor of Justice Studies and Co-Chair of the Palestine, Arab, and Muslim (PAM) Caucus of the California Faculty Association (CFA) Sang Hea Kil, who witnessed the incident, said:

“I notified the statewide and SJSU CFA about Roth’s behavior back in November when he disparaged Students for Justine in Palestine-SJSU, for which I am their faculty advisor, in the campus press.

Promoting a Gaza genocide denier as a legitimate speaker is the real injury here and the actual cause of the disruption, not our students’ protest about the speaker, which was a reasonable response to SJSU’s apparent enabling of hate, violence and genocide toward Palestine.”

CAIR-SFBA Executive Director Zahra Billoo added:

“This deeply troubling incident that took place during a protest is an affront to the principles of free speech and civil rights. We welcome SJSU’s decision to place Roth on administrative leave and call for a thorough investigation, appropriate disciplinary measures, and a review of university policies to ensure the protection of students from harassment, discrimination, and violence.

“We also extend our support to the affected student. Students should never feel unsafe on their campus, and it is the responsibility of educational institutions to ensure an inclusive campus environment that respects the rights and dignities of all students, including those from marginalized communities.”

CAIR-SFBA is an office of CAIR, America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.

Something is very wrong with hiring at universities in the U.S. No one with this type of support for terrorists, cheering on their killing of Jews, should ever be teaching our children. It is simply unacceptable. The administration at Columbia needs to send this professor packing.

He Endorsed Hamas, Hezbollah, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Then He Landed a Professorship at Columbia University.
Mohamed Abdou said he was 'with Hamas' just days before joining Ivy League school

As noted many times before -- Hamas starts training children to be members of the terrorist organization at the young age. Even holding camps on using weapons etc. Somewhere between 1/3 to 1/2 of Hamas militants are children between the ages of 12 to 17. It is sad that Hamas turns these youngsters into child solders (against all international law) and robs them of their childhoods.

Some follow-up. Let's hope for the arrest the remaining violent pro-Hamas supporters who attacked this trio in London for being Jewish in an obvious hate crime. All of them deserve lengthy prison sentences.

Police make arrest over London mob attack on Israeli trio
A 19-year-old was arrested in relation to the January attack, where a group of approximately 20 attacked three Israelis after asking if they were Jewish.

London’s Metropolitan Police have arrested a suspect over suspected involvement in the January 21 mob attack against three Israelis in Leicester Square, according to media reports from Tuesday.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on February 22, the Jewish Chronicle reported.

Chief Superintendent Louise Puddefoot, in charge of policing in Westminster, was cited by the JC as having said, “We are continuing to investigate an antisemitic hate crime that occurred in January and are working closely with the Community Security Trust to provide the victims with appropriate support whilst updating them on our investigation.

“Detectives have carried out an extensive review of CCTV footage from the area in order to try to identify those responsible, as well as speaking with local businesses to gather additional eyewitness accounts.

“On Thursday, 22 February, we arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with the investigation.

“We’ve spoken with the victims to make them aware of this development.

“I would again like to stress that there is no place for hate crime in London, and we are determined to identify those responsible for this cowardly attack.”

The assault on the Israeli trio
A group of three Israelis were out enjoying London's nightlife in January when a group of approximately 20 men attacked them, according to multiple media reports and limited information published by the Police.

The three victims were heard speaking Hebrew, which is how they were identified during the attack, The Telegraph reported. The Israelis were accosted by a small group of men asking them, "Are you Jewish?" The men would later call their friends to join the attack.

Responding to the attacker's question, 28-year-old Israeli-born Tehilla confirmed she was. Upon confirmation, the men started chanting, "Free Palestine" and "F*** the Jews."

The victims of the attack, who later received hospital treatment for their injury, complained that police failed to attend to them despite multiple phone calls.

“I hurt my leg, they punched me in the neck,” the female victim said. “I tried to run away, and I called the police so many times, at least 10 times, and I kept crying to them, ‘I’m a girl, there’s a group of guys attacking me and my friends because I’m Jewish, please can you come, I’m scared I’m going to die.

“They don’t really care. They kept saying ‘I’m sorry, it takes some time, you are not the only one that called tonight’,” she said, adding that she “never thought this would happen in London."
