  1. CuriosityStream(CURI)--

    We profiled once before. ) ) )

Next up is CuriosityStream, an online video streaming channel in the educational segment. CuriosityStream specializes in factual video content, and offers services by subscription. The channel claims over 13 million subscribers globally. Its founder, John Hendricks, first gained fame creating the Discovery Channel, a similarly themed cable TV channel, in 1985.

CuriosityStream is new to the public markets, having IPO’d earlier this year through a merger with Software Acquisition, a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) formed as a ‘blank check’ company to make the deal.

It’s no surprise to see insiders make large purchases in new stocks, but the moves on CuriosityStream deserve note. John Hendricks made three large purchases earlier this month, buying up blocs of 15,473 shares, 26,000 shares, and 11,684 shares over a four-day period. Hendricks paid $473,561 for the new shares.

Covering the stock for B. Riley, analyst Zack Silver wrote, “We see CURI as well positioned to capitalize on the burgeoning global streaming market by establishing itself as the go-to factual programmer for the post pay TV era. CURI's subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service is differentiated not only by the sheer volume of curated factual titles available on the platform but also by its compelling price point… we expect that CURI’s strategy of monetizing its content through multiple revenue streams will enable a more efficient path to scale…”

  2. A Goldman Sachs basket of the most-shorted stocks in the Russell 3000 has surged about 40% this quarter, triple the broader index. High-beta shares are near their highest versus low-volatility ones since 2011.

Every time the Russell 2000 has surged more than 95% off its trough, it has gone on to lose money over the next three months, according to SentimenTrader. It is now up roughly 100% from its March low.

To diehards, Bitcoin’s more than 200% surge this year on a wave of new money shows crypto’s time has come. To many on Wall Street, it’s just the latest sign of irrational exuberance.

“We view it and other cryptocurrencies as ‘digital tulips.’ We have no way to value them,” Yardeni Research analysts including Ed Yardeni wrote in a note. “We do watch Bitcoin’s price action as a gauge of speculative excesses.”

  3. Back to the wise martial artist and energy healer. It is impressive Flynn and then Trump raised the possibility of declaring martial law on Americans on the 20th.

We must sell into Mondays action.

  4. -- There can be no Christmas in Britain. That's like telling a Russian there can be no Vodka.

Telling an Englishman they cannot have Christmas is taking away everything.... This MUST be very serious... If the new strain is 10X More infectious even if it's the same mortality rate this will ensure 10X the hospital flow and our medical system will break.

This is really super scary folks. A ways back I heard a guy in the radio predict this- that the mutation was going to be a big problem and what they have not told us... and Once again I'm sure they have already done this test-- they have not told us whether the current vaccines will work against the new strain... we hope and pray and assume.. But we are walking a tightrope.

Russia knows this and they have attacked. We are at war. Both against the virus and against Russia.

The problem with Cyber retaliating is once you do so you show your hand and it's difficult to use the same technology again but we must make all the toilets flush at once in the Kremlin to get their attention. The Russian Ruble we have to crack that and start a bank run in Russia , we need to take the field of play to their turf.. We need to be aggressive.

    Arnie

So far the mutation is no more deadly and the vaccine will be effective. All corona viruses mutate. The strain that caused the 1918 pandemic also mutated, so much so that it took a special project to re-create it in 2005.
I've always believed that before we get through this a lot of people are going to be infected, it's just the nature of how a virus works and how we develop an immunity.

And btw Stoney, I really appreciate your tips and insight in this thread.

  6. Thanks Arnie but if the spread is so much wider 10X that means Hospital overflow. It doesn't have to be deadlier just more wide spread. What if this one comes with a distance of 20 feet needed between people- what does that do to our economy?
In Cali right now it looks very very bad to me. The Emergency rooms are full with this virus traveling at this already very fast speed.

Moreover we have the Political problem here in the US-- no official announcement about bad news will ever come, we look to Great Britain and the really severe message that came out from Boris-- I mean You don't take Christmas away from English people-- they freakin' live for it. So the news then must have scared the crap out of Boris.

We don't want to get to the mental state of people not being able to get vaccinated just when something terrible comes down upon us. That would be a panic. I've been worried about that.

  7. Don't worry about the PT it's past that already! But I think the concept here holds....

Crowdstrike price target raised to $200 from $180 at Truist 09:25 CRWD, FEYE Truist analyst Joel Fishbein raised the firm's price target on Crowdstrike (CRWD) to $200 from $180 and keeps a Buy rating on the shares as part of a broader research note on Security Software assessing the impact and potential winners from the FireEye (FEYE) / SolarWinds breach. The analyst says the company should benefit in the near term as a result of the breach as it offers red team services that compete with the FireEye tools that were stolen in the breach. Fishbein adds that Crowdstrike should be a "clear beneficiary coming out of COVID due to trends that have been accelerated in the remote work environment".

The old me would of bought Fire Eye when he had the initial thought and be up 30% and I would of rotated right into this. That's why I liked the old me so much.

  8. This is distressing- This is a different hack but what if the hack included a call to arms for the psycho militias?

Trump's Twitter account was hacked, Dutch ministry confirms
Public prosecutor states Victor Gevers did access US president’s site but as ethical hacker faces no charges

Dutch prosecutors have confirmed that Donald Trump’s Twitter account was hacked in October despite denials from Washington and the company, but said the “ethical hacker” would not face charges.

The hacker, named as Victor Gevers, broke into Trump’s account @realDonaldTrump on 16 October by guessing the US president’s password, Dutch media reports said.

Both the White House and Twitter strenuously denied reports that the account had been hacked.

Gevers, 44, disclosed the hack immediately, saying the password he guessed was “maga2020!”, referring to the Trump slogan “Make America Great Again”.

The public prosecutor’s office (Openbaar Ministerie) said: “We believe the hacker has actually penetrated Trump’s Twitter account, but has met the criteria that have been developed in case law to go free as an ethical hacker.”

It added that hacking was a criminal offence in the Netherlands. But it said that “special circumstances”, also referred to in practice as “responsible disclosure”, could stop prosecutors from taking steps.

Dutch prosecutors made their findings based on an investigation by the police specialist cyber unit, called Team High-tech Crime.

“Both the hacker and the American authorities have been informed of the outcome of the investigation,” prosecutors said.

When news of the hack first broke, Gevers told De Volkskrant that the ease with which he accessed Trump’s account suggested the president was not using basic security measures like two-step verification.

“I expected to be blocked after four failed attempts. Or at least would be asked to provide additional information,” he told the Dutch newspaper.

That's when you use that little thing called a mouse and you click on the SEC's website, punch in the company and read the S-1.

It's all spelled out right there Stoney.

A favorite line in internet forums is "Google is your friend"....

I of course refrain from using such triteness on GBA's front office.... but as stocks go... EDGAR is your friend.

Yeah, and we have an idiot here on ET that proclaimed the US will hit herd immunity on 12/20 too.
    And he is no Wu.

..... they do more than ICE stuff. Way more.

Pretty sure DMV has had that info available to LE for the last 60 years.
Vice Network needed a FOIA to figure that out?

    No.

That's an apples to grotto's comparison.

    ............................

All that said Stoney, it is and will remain a controversial stock.
Their government stuff is... well, it is what it is. Thank 9-11 for that.

    Here's the reality.
You know who will pay top dollar for their services?
    Corporate America.
    They're only getting started Stoney.
    The insurance industry alone....

Technology changes 1000X faster than our laws ever will.

Everything you do Stoney, every place you go, every friend you have, every morsel you eat, every drop you drink.... unless you want to live like a Mennonite in the middle of nowhere.... you're pissin' in the wind buddy.

Might as well ride the wave... (and stay inside the lines.) ;)
