Ideas For Now-

Discussion in 'Stocks' started by stonedinvestor, Apr 27, 2020.

  1. I'm at a loss for calling which direction the overall tide is heading now. Part of me says stay in cash, the other part says we will have a blow-off top first. Don't want to be on the side-lines for that.>>>>>

I think the blow off top is not in the cards. The gild on the Nifty Fifty Tech Stocks is starting to fade big time. We are entering a unique time period-- The number one thing to look for now is more money from congress. Without that we are dead in the water.

So paying people so that they will in turn keep the economy going that is the Hampster wheel we are trapped on. End of July is when these unemployment payments run out... Watch that time period for a relief rally when some form of extra funds is introduced I hope... Or for a collapse if Congress goes home for the summer with no deal. The market will then ' force ' a deal by plunging.

I won't believe it personally... but there is real pressure to have some good news on the medical front. Someone has to come out with some moderately good news that is completely over blown by the desperate political situation Trump finds himself in.

That super spike you wondered about missing-- that would come with some brash good news on the vaccine or treatment front... But can we believe it?

  2. Market tumbles and no one notices this upgrade-- a rather small stock gets a rather large house upgrade!

That was wrong it was noticed. It was up 12%// It just doesn't look like it moved very much because it went from $2.26 or so up near $2.80.<- All I see is a sub or near $3 stock... for me it won't be a move until the stock hits $9.

Athersys (ATHX) up 12% after BofA analyst Greg Harrison initiated coverageof the stock with a Buy rating....

  3. ATHERSYS (ATHX) BOUGHT @ $2.80.....

We took the chance folks... I know this is dangerous but I'm going off years and years of instinct... Stem Cells why not! I remember back when my son was born we saved his cord blood cells because I BELIEVED THEY WERE SUPER CELLS AND THEN OVER THE YEARS I GOT SICK OF PAYING THE FREEZING COSTS AND AT SOME POINT AROUND AGE 11, we gave the cord blood cells to medicine in general to test with...

Could that have bee a huge mistake! It's just like my life for them to turn around and say oh those cells cure Covid. It just makes sense in a weird way.

-->Gilead pricing for Remdesivir 'perfectly reasonable,' says Piper Sandler

-->Fatburger, Buffalo's Express debuts in Alaska FAT... Fatburger, are they good?

-->Zix price target raised to $11 from $9 at Northland

-->Gilead Sciences Inc has priced its COVID-19 drug candidate remdesivir at $2,340 for a five-day treatment in the United States and some other developed countries, it said on Monday, as it set the price for a single vial at $390.

The price for U.S. private insurance companies will be $520 per vial, the drugmaker said, which equates to $3,120 per patient for a treatment course using 6 vials of remdesivir.

This is below the $5,080 per course recommendation by U.S. drug pricing research group, the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review, last week.

  4. This name El Dorado has come up a few times lately. I saw a talking head on Bloomberg TV and he was conservative and shaky on the market yet this was one of his picks which I found odd.

This must be a value play somehow and they just completed the Ceasers merger is that good or bad? Is there a sports betting on the phone play here...

    Then an analyst said this:

Stifel boosts Eldorado Resorts target to $60, sees 'triple-digit stock' soon

Stifel analyst Steven Wieczynski raised the firm's price target on Eldorado Resorts (ERI) to $60 from $42 and keeps a Buy rating on the shares. The stock closed Friday down $2.45 to $36.15. The analyst still sees 65%-plus upside in the shares after positively revising out year estimates based on a stronger margin profile. Eldorado remains Stifel's top idea across as Wieczynski still believes the company will be a "triple-digit stock at some point in the not too distant future." The analyst has more conviction in management's Caesars (CZR) synergy opportunity as well as the free cash flow potential of the combined entity. Further, believes he's being conservative around some of his core margin and sports betting and internet gaming assumptions.

  5. Ok interesting there is a William Hill angle here perhaps

    WIMHY
    $5.68-0.31(-5.17%)

The combined co of Ceasars and Eldorado will take the Ceasars name.
This is all very interesting. A) The NY Post said the deal would not get done. It got done.
    B) People were wondering if prices would be adjusted because of Covd. They were not.
    C) Carl Ichon is behind the merger.

He has hired smart smart people and the end result here will be a huge presence in the gambling world. Ceasars has a huge list of special points return customers and remember our gambling play GAN specializes in converting those members into sports online betters but I think from what I have read William Hill will be in line for this combined Ceasars/ Eldorado merger.

    WATCH:
    1- WIMHY

    2- ERI

  9. I think a consumer based idea and/or air flow idea would be in order and then the portfolio will be closed.

You're flooding me with stocks over here Stoney.

ElDorado I like, but its at an interesting inflection point on it's chart; so there's that. The Justice Dept will finalize the merger soon. It took forever. They have to sell a few properties, and they have already struck deals to rent out and/or sell stuff on the Strip. Good move. Who wants to own Caesar's Arena at the moment ya know?
I say buy it, approval has been priced in, but as these things go it'll spike then drop back on the final announcement of Justice' approval. So buy now, sell the pop, wait a few... buy back in. Good plan.

ATHX... who would pick 'anthrax' for a ticker? What's their corporate logo, one of those biohazard things, the evil looking concentric circles that look like concertina wire?
On the biotech stuff Stoney... I can't give you any help really. Those companies are impossible for me to value. To my credit lol, I worked hard on GWPH you gave us last year. That one was easy since they already had approval, sales were just a matter of acceptance by U.S. physicians so it was just crunching numbers based on expectations. I have stayed on top of their story too. Learned a lot about this heretofore forbidden realm of analysis. Learned enough to know I still know zilch lol. I do know this however Stoney, if you really understand these things, you should be setting up option trades on these small biotech's that encompass their FDA milestone dates. For or against. Those options are goldmines, of course the setups required might not be something you want to mess with, they can get complicated. Goldmines turn to landmines.

I'm starting to really like the FND play, albeit no channel-checks yet. Just the more I think about it based on that video. I need to see a store though, then I'll know 100%. No go on buying the stock till then. And again.... its bigtime pricey on all metrics compared to HD/LOW. About a 35% premium when you take in all the factors.

A grotto huh? That's pretty cool. You put a statue of Peter Lynch in it?
So that 20 feet... is the thing over the property line or are they just saying you need a 20 foot setback? Either way, that'll be a pain in the ass. Why are they surveying, did the property change hands or is someone getting ready to build. I guess you're gonna have read CT laws on these matters. Is there a grandfather clause, a timeline? I mean the other thing is, and you hate to be a dick about things, but who built it for you(?) and did they carry errors and omissions ins? They should have known. I bet you just rounded up a few stone masons and told them what to do though didn't ya?

Go out there and look for the survey stakes, they probably just marked them. Make sure they're using the old markers for their new flags... ie pins in the ground that have been there since the property was initially subdivided way back when. I had a deal something like that 2 years ago, f'n kid comes out with some gps and a bunch of bs and wants to move a boundary that was there for like 100 years. Never did settle it. Cat built a house, sold it, tbh I could care less about 10 feet of woods. Bigger fish to fry.
Its easy to get upset about these things... and feel like there's an urgency to adress them... I'd find out the back story of what's going on over there... and then go from there. Who sent the letters? Not the survey company. Was it an attorney's office or a rep from the trust?

Go down and reset the breaker in the basement for the AC unit. If it pops again, obviously there's a problem with your condenser outside. Ask the electrician for a recommendation of some old retired coot that still does hvac work. A company will come out and tell you you need a whole new unit, lines, and A-coil, when oftentimes all you need is one of these. https://tinyurl.com/yc4o3neg (for your specific model)
What happens is the compressor and fan need a little electrical umph to get going. Thats what the start capacitor(s) do. Kinda like a defibrillator every time the unit is required to come on. Those capacitors always go bad. So the compressor and fan won't start when power is applied and they sit there and heat up, pop goes the breaker. Easy fix really. All you need is a screwdriver, kill power to the unit, take the back plate off where all the stuff goes in... and you'll see either one or two right there. Pull it out and take it to a local parts house that sells that stuff. There's one in every town.
