  1. By the way no one here at the great Elite Trader could tell me that Fri was some re balance & I shouldn't take the price moves seriously. Great! Too late....

The red one marked furnace isn't it.

You have 2 outdoor units? You thickened the plot on me. What's the other one for? I mean if you have a split system, why not just go to the cool part of the house?

Yes there is a box out there, it'll be mounted to the side of your house. Usually however, its just a disconnect switch (or a plug you pull out) and not a breaker. I would definitely check though.

If you took a picture of the outside unit it might help. You can pm it to me if you want. Write down the model number though of that outside unit. It'll be on the back. That would help.

There's only a few other things that could be a problem.

Was it working recently? Do you have a landscaper? If he hit the copper lines it could have a tiny leak, and some systems have a built in safety switch that will shut the condenser down if your Freon runs low, that saves the compressor.

The other thing is some setups incorporate a float switch on the pan beneath the "A" coil. This pan collects all the condensate and runs out a pvc pipe to a drain on your basement floor. Over time those pvc drains can clog, the water accumulates in the pan and the float switch will shut the system down. The reason they do this is to prevent water damage if a unit is mounted on a floor higher up in the house, ie, not the basement.

If you had a volt-meter and knew how to use it, it would make things easier. You can buy a cheap one at AZO or the likes for $12. Somehow I think that may be out of your wheelhouse though. We don't need a dead Stoney.

If you feel like it, take a picture and get a model number. It is Monday though. What are your boiler people saying? Service call in order?

How do I know all this stuff? I've just owned lots and lots of rental properties and I'm cheap so I've learned a million different things about houses. Remember I fixed your pool pump a few years back lol. Btw, have you backwashed your filter yet this year? :D

All you need is a new breaker then from HD. $35ish. Just make sure the main disconnect for the house is off. If you have one. If not, you'll have to pull the meter. Just tell the power company when your done that you broke their little seal.

No, not really, just be careful. You need to take the plate off to see what type (manufacturer) of breakers they are. Take a picture and carry it into HD. Make sure you note the amps for the one that says HVAC.

When you replace it, obviously you'll definitely have to flip the main. IE, you'll be shutting of power to the whole house. But no need until you have the new breaker.

One leg is dead huh? lol... And I didn't even sell your wife a service contract. ;)

I forget the brand.... but you'll be really pissed.... there's this old brand of circuit breakers and panels... they put them in a LOT of houses back in the day.... they were notorious for this and they were sued into oblivion. House-fires and stuff. You can't buy replacements anymore. You'll need a whole new box. Hopefully that's not the case. It did happen to me once however.

I'd get your money back on that service contract and find a new company. That guy was an idiot.

Not only the $'s for the contract, I'd demand the service call $'s too. That is blatant incompetence on that tech's part. Off the charts. Find a new company; they suck BIGTIME.
