  3. Strongly considering GILD here--
Trial underway // additional trail with young kids // and now 3rd bit of info-- Aug trial for inhaled version!!! This is bad news for BCRX don' tell anyone but they better get their press release out before that Aug trial. The whole advantage of BCRX is their product is similar to GILD but in pill form so it's easier to take and you can take more of it which is important...

For GILD as the stock market cools off in late July I think we rotate a big slug into GILD... but with these other trials set to pop off like balloons this could be continued good or bad newsflow for a month...

I was very surprised to learn that GILD has been a big under performer the last 5 years.. and equally surprised to learn I own it. Inherited from Boston grandmother I don't know the cost...

    Some Fund Man-
"The Fund significantly increased its position in US pharmaceutical company Gilead Sciences. Gilead is primarily developing and marketing anti-infective drugs, with leadership positions in the treatment of HIV/AIDS and hepatitis C (HCV). The stock has suffered greatly since 2015 (down around 50%) as Gilead has reported declining sales the last three years. This lackluster development can mainly be explained by a shrinking pool of HCV patients and price pressure. However, the company may now turn the tide as: 1) Gilead has launched two fast growing new generation HIV drugs which are getting substantial traction. This is important as Gilead's HIV business accounts for around 75% of total sales. In 2020, these two new generation HIV drugs Bictarvy and Descovy will probably add another USD2.6 bn to sales (Gileads total revenue was around USD22.3bn in 2019). 2) On 19 December 2019, Gilead submitted the drug Filgotinib to FDA for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). In addition to RA, the drug is also in clinical trials for the treatment of ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease and psoriatic arthritis. We believe Filgotinib to have block buster potential and may add over USD2bn in sales to Gilead the next couple of years. 3) On 2 May 2020, US regulators allowed the emergency use of Gilead’s experimental drug remdesivir, which appears to help coronavirus patients recover faster. The FDA acted after preliminary results from a government-sponsored study showed that remdesivir shortened the time to recovery by 31%, or about four days on average, for hospitalized Covid-19 patients. The drug also might be reducing deaths, although that’s not certain from the partial results revealed so far. Gilead shares are a bargain in our view, trading at 12x free cash flow."

  4. Gilead Sciences (GILD) - is starting trials of an inhaled version of remdesivir, the drugmaker's candidate to treat covid-19.

After it received the go-ahead from the Food and Drug Administration, Gilead this week will start screening healthy volunteers for Phase I trials. It plans to begin studies in patients with the coronavirus in August.

"If the trials are successful, this could represent important progress," Chief Executive Daniel O'Day said in an open letter Monday.

The Foster City, Calif., company expects to have more than two million remdesivir treatment courses manufactured by the end of the year with "many millions more" produced by 2021.

Remdesivir is currently given to patients through daily infusions. The version the company plans to test would be administered through a nebulizer - a device that administers medication through a mist inhaled into the lungs.

If the trial is successful, an inhaled remdesivir "could potentially allow for easier administration outside the hospital, at earlier stages of the disease," O'Day said.

Remdesivir, which has been administered around the world through emergency use authorizations and other access programs, was shown to shorten recovery time by an average of four days, according to a National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases study.

Gilead says that based on its knowledge of covid-19 so far, in the earlier stages the virus itself seems to be the primary driver of illness.

In the later stages, the body's inflammatory response may cause some of the most life-threatening aspects of the disease.

So Gilead is exploring whether remdesivir combined with other therapies would improve patient outcomes by treating both the viral and autoimmune aspects of the disease.

The company says it has donated its entire existing supplies of the drug through June and will "work to ensure that remdesivir is accessible and affordable to governments around the world."

Gilead shares at last check were off 2.5% at $75.58.

  6. No buzzing sound. & One big hint is I always leave the kitchen light on when I turn on the air con because the power surge makes it blink and that confirms that we are working. No blinking light. So it's not even trying to surge.

    It's really hot.

  7. Folks I feel we are 1 or two stocks away from completing this portfolio. I apologize for the length of this but the facts on the ground are changing so fast and I am churning through all my winners leaving myself a disgraced portfolio of losers to play catch up with...

But that's alright we are staying within the theme of Ideas For Now... so by definition my remaining picks should remain relevant throughout the year

Right now it would probably be GILD & CARR. and be done with it.

  8. Man I'm ticked my wife told me to by Sonos and I didn't/ I remembered there some some sort of problem with the co spying on people or something maybe China related... She also told me to buy Etsy I should start listening.

Shares of Sonos Inc. SONO, 19.43% are up nearly 9% in Monday morning trading after Citron Research chimed in with a bullish view of the smart-speaker company. The analysts argued that the company is "set to report a blowout quarter" given stay-at-home trends, the apparent popularity of recently launched products, and the stickiness of the Sonos ecosystem, with a high portion of purchases coming from households that already have at least one Sonos device. The company's ability to drive new device purchases among existing customers gives Sonos an "uncanny" resemblance to Apple Inc. AAPL, 2.17%, according to the Citron analysts. Citron said in a tweet that it predicts "this is the time" for a long-awaited acquisition by Apple. Apple shares are up 1.6% in Monday trading ahead of the company's annual WWDC developer keynote, which is set to begin at 1 p.m. ET. Apple shares have gained 55% over the past three months as Sonos shares have rallied 66%. The S&P 500 SPX, 0.48% is up 34% in that span.

If there's no buzzing whatsoever.... then its not a start capacitor, those are usually what goes bad on the outside unit, especially if they're old. Pretty easy fix really.

This statement makes no sense: "Not electrical because I flipped the breaker and a small unit I have for the third floor is still working."

The unit on the 3rd floor has nothing to do with your unit outside. You might want to go through all your breakers, look for a 220V breaker.

The outside unit is 220V. If its been humid, your "A" coil on the inside might have iced up and that can overheat the compressor outside and it could pop that breaker.

Also, sometimes in old breaker boxes, those old 220 breaker switches can break just one leg, (there's two 110V legs going thru that breaker), the other leg will still be hot. The result is you have 110V going out to the unit when you need 220V. That's why its important to not just look at the breaker to see if the little window says its off, you want to go thru and slowly reset each of your 220 V breakers, I'm assuming they aren't marked as to which one goes outside. Note that more than likely you'll see one marked furnace/ac.... that's not the one if its only a single leg breaker. The inside air handler is 110V. Totally separate. You need the big one. It'll look like the one to your clothes dryer if you have an electric dryer.

On the odd chance Connecticut code required a breaker outside too, check that. Usually its just a disconnect, but sometimes they do put an additional breaker outside. So check that too. The gray box. You'll need a screwdriver.

    Do that and report back.

  10. I have a double breaker switch marked HVAC I assume that runs both of the outside units. I flipped that back n forth. It's been VERY humid I do think you may be onto something but does the outside unit have its own breaker I can't get to? Ct code-- I bet it's the outside one! There is a special red switch in my house that says " furnace " I've never touched it -- really scary looking. Painted red and above the whole fuse box.... I could turn that to off and then on...

Time is running out it is 84 degrees IN THE HOUSE.....
