Encryption is a great idea. I loved the light weight of the dell mini9. However I think I need a 10 inch netbook in order to see the charts and order screen (I use Ninja Trader for fx) at the same time.
Update - Instead of Ninja Trader, I'm using Bracket Trader now. NT doesn't work on netbooks because it has bigger screen resolution requirements than the netbook has.
Try a new 17" MacBook Pro. Only 6.6lbs, 8hr battery and durable as hell. If you have a large account with IB, make sure you have the security device.
