IB's TWS new drop down windows

My TWS now has drop down explanatory windows that open

whenever my mouse pointer hits bid size, bid price, ask size, ask

price, etc. I find these windows very distracting and annoying.

After contacting tech support I was informed that there is no

way to disable this new function. This new function might be of

some help to someone on their very first day of trading but when

you have been waiting for an hour to cover on a position and

then just as you are moving your mouse to transmit your trade a

window pops open blocking the bid and ask prices. It's a

distracting factor at exactly the wrong time. This is especially

true when the TWS is made to be as small as possible on a single

    monitor trading operation.

    Comments appreciated,

  2. I totally agree. There should be a way to disable it. Clicking on 'toggle hlp' opens a window saying 'Toggle help is disabled'...but actually it is not...

    Using 851.6 under unix.

I also agree it sucks. I can not even adjust the column widths without this annoying feature interrupting. Tried to use the "Toggle Help" selection, but it does not function. I am using TWS 851.6. Does TWS 851.7 correct this problem?

In the next release you'll be able to disable it.

  5. Fortunately you come out with a release every few days :D -- does wonders for a trader's confidence.

I am using 851.6. I guess if went back to an earlier release I

could get OFF these pop ups.

Any body know a quick solution here?

    Thanks Guys

Not a high priority fix, but I do think the "Toggle Help" will be a nice feature when fixed. Thank you for your reply.

  9. Silly of them to not add a disable from the get go. The problem is, when you are adding features and functionality, there in NO END to the tweaks you can make. You'd never get anything out the door if you kept bangng at the code.
