Don't know about others, but the NYSE-TICK has been screwed for a year or so. COME ON, IB. But, since you mention it, ES data has been screwed as an added contract, on other graphs. WHAT THE FUCK. COME ON, IB!!
The TICK data has been trashy for a while, but now backfill gets data all 0's just like TRIN gets all 1's. Strangely enough data comes through on backfills for dates on or before Nov 10th. As of Nov 13th, they decided it is easier to trade off of horizontal lines. May be they ran out of storage. Pitiful.
Good luck with IB's support. I have PTSD from the whole experience. As do many others, which is why the platform is so problem filled. People just give up trying to point out what's not working right.
It has occurred to me that opening a ticket on the "stable" TWS is pretty well foolish -- akin to wishing a fait accompli was undoable. In that mind, I'm thinking of moving to the beta TWS, as there might be more of an audience, and that audience might actually effectuate some change (should it be cited early enough). Dunno. I'm still jealous of my buddy using Ye Ol' 949.3d -- "TWS Perfection" if there was any.......
That may well be the case. I'm just utterly exhausted by trying to get the charting to work properly in TWS. It works ***barely*** adequately. And that's why people use programs like Sierra Chart, but I'd rather not have to rely on another program using the API connection. When I've brought up what are obvious bugs, I get told that's how the app was developed. Developed to have bugs built-in? Oh and I was perfectly nice and respectful during these discussions. What a demoralizing waste of time.
yeah, pushback is par for the course at IB whenever you point out something. what chart bug are you referring to?
The current issue for me is that Backfill of NYSE-TICK used to work. If you started TWS late, you would still be able to chart the TICK (within TWS Charting.) Now you get data only from the time of connection. Is your experience different? Are you able to backfill TICK data? I checked today and it appears to do the same thing. Fortunately I now have an alternative source and am working on moving from IB.
FIXED!!!!! And a beautiful thing! To be clear, what was fixed was the ability to hit {refresh} (something you'd do to have the blue ES line ["secondary" scale on the right] be recalibrated to the primary scale on the left), without the entire TRIN history (however far back you had looked) be reset to "1.0".... This means the overall functionality IS BACK!!! NOW, ON TO THE NEXT ILL!!! Let's see if "Secondary Series" data of the ES on a TRIN or a VIX (etc) chart DIES at 15:00hrs, as it has *also* started doing a month or more back. WTFw/that?? SO, KUDOs for the reset-fix!! (Please!! Keep up the good work!)
