Bob: Sorry about you problems. Did you remove all shortcuts to TWS 4.0 (normally one on desktop and one in start > Programs > Trader Workstation 4.0) before downloading and installing TWS 851.7? If so, TWS 851.7 installation should have created new shortcuts correctly provided Java 1.4 had been removed and Java 1.5 properly installed. Did you use the Java "Verify Installation" from the Java Web Site? You can enter the target strings in the shortcuts by had if that is less work. Try the installation again if you have not already got it working.
After upgrading from 831.9 to 851.7 I must say there's a lot of neat new stuff. I guess it pays to upgrade more often than once a year LOL One thing I notice is the totals row at the top no longer displays, despite the checkbox being set to "display total row" Is this a minor bug or a setting somewhere else? TIA
Hey Folks - Perhaps someone out there knows why TWS never seems to be available on weekends -- my experience anyway. Especially after options expiration this is important to me & I'd guess to many others. I also tried to retrieve a current statement - for 9/16/05 - from the IB Website & received a message that it wasn't available. Good Trading & Good Health ! cowpok
i just opened an IB account so i thought the weekend thing was something i did so it's commonly unavailable on weekends ? i'm not trying to trade anything, i'm just trying to bring up TWS and login ... thx and take care - omni
TWS is always down all weekend from a few hours after friday closure (not exactly sure when) until a little before globex opens on Sunday. Hmmm ... you'd think I could do better than that. <img src="http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/attachment.php?s=&postid=844871">
IB is often late in getting the daily statements out on weekends, particularly on options expiration weekends and weekends with high futures contracts expirations. They also do internal account transfers (complete accounts, not partials) on weekends and these can be skipped on option and futures weekends. IB probably staffs for their normal workload and they are probably overloaded during expiration weekends. Thus, expirations and the "routine" maintenance of their servers on Saturdays slows down daily statements. Jack
No need to mess with Java. For reasons other than IB I kept java 1.42 on my system. TWS 851 runs perfectly well under it.
ah ha, i'll check it out. thx Maria and others for the heads up. grasshopper is learning take care - omni
