Sorry, none that I know of. Just market data, and no you can't get access to TWS at the same time. It would need to be a seperate account.
Hi Steve, You answered the above in reply to Francis' question: "Was anything else added to the CTCI API like account information? And can TWS be used at the same time on the same account?" Do you mean that market data is available right now with the CTCI API? It doesn't show yet in your table: http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/software/interfaceComparison.php?ib_entity=llc Thank you
Steve, I'm off-topic here but I'd like to know if the IBIDEALPRO minimum is 25000 units or USD$25000 in base currency? (e.g. EUR/USD minimum is ~$21000) Thanks, Francis
That's a real shame. Being dependent on a graphic session for an automated task is the worse thing ever !
IB now offers FIX order entry and execution with our API market data (FIX is not used for market data because it would be too slow because of its extra overhead). The reason you can't close the TWS is that it is used as a translator to our native FIX for those customers that don't want to deal with FIX. While we could pontentially replicate this, it would be a lot of work, and most customers that want to move up to a more robust solution are willing to put the investment into FIX. Hope this helps.
It would appear that your opinion on FIX not being suitable for marketdata is plainly contradicted by Ib's Steve in his post a bit earlier today.
As a retail (a.k.a. cleared customer) aside from the web-trader and mobile-trader you have the following choices to connect to us: --- a) TWS and API for both order routing and market data. --- b) FIX for order routing. We run an application on your desktop which connects to our market data farms. You connect to that application to retrieve market data, as if it was a TWS. We do it this way, so that: - We don't have to expose the compressed comm. protocol we use for the market data. - You don't have to change your client. ---
Quote from IBsoft: We run an application on your desktop which connects to our market data farms. You connect to that application to retrieve market data, as if it was a TWS. What technology is this mediation app based on? Java or something else? Was there any progress on the "lightweight" FIX solution, which didn't require the dedicated circuit and $1500/month minimum?
