Sadly, there's little difference between what you can do now with your computer versus 1995. Still can take 5 seconds (fast computer) for Firefox/IE to load, 5-10 seconds for some sites (even with fibre). Name me one 'wow' thing to have happened over the last 15 years with tech? Twitter, facebook, watching a video clip on CNBC, havng a map listing the nearest McDonalds on your iPhone Contrast this to the advances in medical technology over the last 15 years? The tech people have really let us down.
Not sure what you are referring to. IB has actually replied (several PMs) and is working actively on the matter represented here. (I am also expecting a scheduled call). The fact that we can criticize and point out possible issues, while they are here participating and responding in the thread, should tell something. Many brokers would simply neglet issues and lose clients. This has to be recognized. Tom
Well depends on the perspective. Consider that "medical technology" relies on the "tech people". Just think about genome sequencing... But you are right in the trading world it still seem that it takes relatively little effort to shine ;-)) Tom
If you don't bother quoting messages, nobody understands clearly who you are referring to. In case you are talking to me, I am used to work. And as you can see i did not even sleep today. This is also why i get results and things done, while many others don't, and have nothing better to do than communicate their frustrations. Tom
Hi Jens , That is a very good suggestion. Especially coming from a person with significant connections with important hedge funds. It does not make sense annyoing the algo people to re-login each time. It must also this be another "bandwidth saving" feature ;-)) except that the relogin process takes by far much more resources than simply letting it run. Not to mention that most people simply switch the autologoff time achieving practically the same effect, but causing some potential harm on the algo system and big annoyance. [ An IB tech guy confessed me another reason. But i wont tell now ... ;-) ] For the Gateway, an account view and a redirection to account management would be good. But, please, absolutely no other features! Keep it as simple as it is now: don't add things people did not request as happened for the tws. In case, remove the "log" on the interface which is anyway totally useless in that form. Save the dev money for the bandwidth so investors and funds can properly test strategies and get confidence! Another important thing for API, message errors do not contain the instrument name (or reference). When people are running a folio they have no clue what instrument the message is about. This is a big blunder, that should be immediately fixed (it takes a minute but changes a lot). Tom PS. btw i dont "sell" software, but the point is totally correct anyway, as an algorithmic solution provider
whatever, I guess you use IB until they don't suit your special needs or they finally jump the shark on dysfunctionality and you look for some other venue for your trades... They have what I want in broker managed OCO and costs are taking about 6% of my gross so I can't really get into all this bitching and whining about them...
Noob. I think the comment has more to do with the pleasure you aren't getting and the relief you could have. Really, don't take yourself too seriously. It's just a demo.
