IB vs. Tradestaion

Discussion in 'Interactive Brokers' started by Shorttrader88, Jan 21, 2006.

  1. you would be paying IB for the L II data. You would need that regardless of what you use to view the data - TWS or QT, so yes, if you use IB as the datafeed in QuoteTracker, you would need to pay IB for Level II if you wanted to see that data in QuoteTracker

Reading this I think there may be some confusion.

IB is simply a broker - that is it. Orders are placed through them. Some folks use a front end, another piece of software, that you click on instead of IB's TWS.

QuoteTracker is a seperate chart package that can be fed with IB's data or some other data vender.

If you use IB you will need a seperate chart package - Qcharts, Quotetracker, Sierra or any number of others.

If you are looking for news you will need to find a seperate news source.

I have never used Tradestation as a broker so cannot compare. With IB you must assemble all your parts to get the whole package that you feel you need.

To be fair - IB does have charts but not that I would use for my trading, and I hope they do not try to become another TS!!

    Make 'em pretty, Chris
